Tonight’s brew is Santa Monica Brew Work’s Pali Cali Pils, with some homemade tomato sauce and spaghetti.

Citra and Wakatu hops fill out this California-style Pilsner, pretty good flavor!

Pours with a thick head, smells bready in a good way, definitely some banana in there too. The taste is a bit sweet, but not so kingly sweet, just a touch. Malty, some caramel and maybe cloves, with a touch of hoppiness. It’s been my go to bottle for years. Definitely recommend.

They use a ton of Citra and Sultana hops, definitely can smell the pineapple and grapefruit! Tastes great, you taste grapefruit at first, then a bit of pineapple, with a touch of bitterness at the end, but in that good hoppy way. I strong “Órale!” for this beer!

Decided to have a second beer with dinner, having chicken and sausage jambalaya, and yes, that’s a Tupperware container filling in for a soup bowl... I’m a single man of 50, I need help😂😂 Went with something new: Urban Anomaly, an American Stout from Crowns & Hops out of Inglewood!

6% ABV

For someone whose first love is Guinness, and has visited the Dublin-based brewery a number of times, I gotta give a big ÓRALE! to these cats, this stout is outstanding! Pours dark with a great head, The aroma is coffee, chocolate , with a hint of smoky toffee! When you drink it, it’s like someone dropped a small piece of Werther’s candy in it, it’s barely noticeable, but it’s mixed in with the smooth chocolate and coffee notes. No bitterness, just pure deliciousness. Definitely recommend this stout!

Sancho Gold: Mi Cerveza” Blonde Ale with some Bond, James Bond, on the laptop!

Pours straw yellow, almost no head. Aroma is just a hint of lemon, maybe some pineapple. Definitely doesn’t taste like any blonde ales I’ve had before, more like a fizzy lager with a bitter after note. Easy to drink, not a bad beer, would drink if someone brought it to the cookout, but not one I’ll go out of my way to buy again.

Grilled up some chicken and Mexican chorizo today, along with a head of garlic, and made myself a torta for dinner! Accompanied with an Imperial lager from out of Costa Rica. The days are just starting to cool down in LA, so the window is closing for my lager drinking, but this one hit the spot!

Really easy drinking and light, no hoppiness at all, a bit malty with a fresh cut grass taste, which is a good thing for me. Not my first choice, but still a good choice.

Yesterday’s beer of the day is “Relax [It’s Just a Hazy IPA]” which I had with a bag of Doritos... Hey, I’ve already admitted to being a Neanderthal! 😂😂

ABV:6.8
IBU: 50

It’s got a great lemon yellow coloring, with an aroma of grapefruit and light lemon. Really great fruit taste to it, no discernible bitterness to it and really smooth; what I really loved about IPAs at the beginning. Really enjoyable, kick back in the sun, kinda IPA. Definitely recommend!
