On this Star Wars day, we celebrate General Madine, 26 seconds of screen time and 2 lines, but an action figure everyone at the time still for some reason owned. Probably because we all got it before Return of the Jedi even came out.

Actor Dermot Crowley even wore a fake beard because the action figures were already produced.

Backstory is cool: Imperial commando leader who defected to the Rebel Alliance, specialized in covert operations, best known for devising the attack on the Endor shield generator and training the soldiers who accompanied Solo to the forest moon, which enabled the destruction of the second Death Star. Afterward, served in the New Republic Special Forces until his rumored death at the hands of an Imperial remnant conspiracy.

Hats off to Crowley: prolific TV career and a guy who got to be in universes of Star Wars, James Bond, and Luther. That’s a pretty incredible feat.
