3 years ago during the pandemic my post baby bubble was burst by my company laying me off. This was the start of my personal development journey.

Jobless for the first time in my life, I KNEW I needed to take the opportunity to turn it around and begin the journey to my calling. Entrepreneurship.

I decided to “lay low, and boss up” as the quotes cards say. I saw it as the journey to a new me. I wasn’t a millionaire overnight but I did embark on the most remarkable journey to learning a new skill set and levelling up my expertise. That, of course, was internet marketing.

The last 3 years hasn’t been plain sailing. The growth wasn’t linear, nor was the business venture. I started, learned, then started again, then learned again. I quit a few times. Then restarted 😂 all with personal struggles in between which I’ll go into maybe another day.

It was a journey that went deeper than business; it was mindset, health, relationships, breakthroughs, and acknowledgement of past trauma.

And I wanted NONE of it in the public eye. I wanted none of it documented on my personal account. I wanted it deep, private and secure.

I also didn’t want to get distracted, I knew every hour of spare time I had needed to be dedicated to learning and development, not consuming childhood friends’ content and mindless scrolling. This is something the majority of our population can’t control about themselves. I can.

I wanted to break the habit of consuming media, and make the habit of producing media instead. I knew that in order to start, grow and succeed, I MUST be a producer and not a consumer.

And this is why I’m in a much stronger position to share my expertise and passion about social media and internet marketing.

That sounds backwards right?! If I love social media that much why don’t I have my own personal Instagram account?

Because if I’m telling you to produce and not consume, then you can be damn sure that’s what I’m doing myself. I embody it. I don’t just copy and paste it because I heard it on a podcast. I do it, I live it, I am it.

Stick around for the rest of my journey, and I promise to provide you more value than you’ve ever received from anyone on social media.

Firstly - they aren’t signing up to your email list, which is the REAL gold mine, so no harm done there. Your email list is still reserved for genuine hot prospects 👍🏼

Second, engagement on your content from these types of people is great! It boosts your content, imagine getting NO engagement.

This is the perfect opportunity to build relationships with other influential people in your niche - yes - the ones who don’t want to buy from you, because it’s an opportunity to come together and share your audiences.

You can also try changing your messaging if you want to attract a buyer rather than a competitor. Write content from your BUYER’S perspective 👀

Engagement = like being at a house party with lots of cool people, turning up with kegs of beer and making friends so that ultimately they come back to your party. But the kegs of beer are your value in the form of comments, and your social media profile is the party (your email list is the after party 😏)

Get it?

Engagement is one of the easiest ways to get seen on social media. It’s not THE best way and only way, but it’s an easy, enjoyable and beneficial little thing that is completely within your control (no algorithm needed) and simply, if you put more in, you get more out!

WHO should you engage with?

I personally don’t engage with ideal clients as I do thing this takes more effort and work to find individual profiles. This is perhaps something to outsource when that time comes.

I engage with massive leaders in my niche who have a LOT of eyeballs on their content (and their comments section!)

I also engage with leaders who maybe don’t have a huge audience but…I do really just like their content! Maybe I admire them and I want to build a bit of rapport with them too.

I reiterate…this is an easy, FREE and nice thing to do as a beginner, if you are struggling to get ANY eyeballs on your content! It’s not THE way to get traffic, there’s a whole system for that which I’ll be talking about on here way more!

Don’t get drawn in by lazy ass marketing.

Are you tired of seeing self-proclaimed gurus claiming to have the secret formula to achieving instant success? Me too 🥲

Guess what…there are no shortcuts to success, and slogging away trying to hack the algorithm or charging high ticket prices for the sake of it without providing substance or value is just a recipe for disaster. And telling people to invest in themselves without giving them a clear reason to do so is just lazy marketing.

Don't be fooled by those who claim that success is easy. It CAN be fast, but it takes hard work and dedication to build a sustainable business that adds real value to people's lives.

Instead, focus on finding your unique voice, being confident online, and embracing steady growth.

Embrace the process, have fun, impact lives 👊

BREAKING: Hashtags are growing my audience organically 😱🤣 who’d have thought?!

#️⃣ I’m using pretty much the 30 max limit on all posts

#️⃣ I am putting them in the comments section of a comment itself (confusing lol) and it’s still working

#️⃣ I am using Flick (not sponsored, I pay £12/month for this) to source the hashtags and I choose low/medium competition mainly with a handful of high competition. This seems to be working atm but I’ll keep tweaking to see what results are best

#️⃣ I then use Flick to create a group of hashtags and I’ll add them to a keyboard shortcut on my iPhone and give them a nickname

#️⃣ I’ll then choose which group of hashtags I want to use that fits best with the genre of the piece of content I’m posting

#️⃣ I currently have about 5 different groups I continuously use that get me the results!

Someone had to say it, it may as well be me 😂 here’s two things to avoid when trying to grow your audience lol:

1️⃣ Buying followers - it’s really obvious because you have like 30k followers and 2 likes no comments on your posts. Qualified buyers are savvy AF and WILL pick up on this instantly (I do lol) and yeah big red flag, they’ll never trust you again. Like…ever.

2️⃣ Follow then unfollow 🤦‍♀️ I’ll play nice because my dream audience aren’t even doing this but just in case you are…it’s effort for YOU and I’m pretty sure the algorithm picks up on it too and thinks you’re shady 🤣 it also just looks…..bad. And you’re not 12. Ok imma stop there.

If you want to ethically buy followers then boost your best pieces of content to a lookalike audience to whoever follows you already (and test others if you want) and direct the “click” back to your page (not a website) works great for getting your content in front of the right audience and getting some new eyeballs on you 👍🏼 I’ve done it and it works wonderfully simultaneously with organic growth.

There. Settled 😆

3 BIZ DESTROYERS you haven’t even noticed 😱👇

1️⃣ Referring to your business as a side hustle, startup, or “little business”. We literally speak things into existence. A side hustle will therefore, always be a side hustle. A startup will never grow. And a little business will stay little because you’ll always make little moves. Call it a business and own it.

2️⃣ STOP telling your friends and family about your business. They don’t care. I repeat, they don’t care. They may love you unconditionally and have a lot of respect for you but they don’t think it’s going to work. Your ideas will be met with resistance, everything from your container to your prices - because they don’t get it. One comment from one family member or friend can completely throw you off. The only conversations you should be having about your business are in rooms/online spaces with others who are doing what you’re doing. The whole vibe is just different.

3️⃣Always learning but not implementing. I love personal development and have a reading list packed full of things I want to learn about - but it’s no good if you never get round to actually DOING what you learn. I made a promise to myself that I wouldn’t start a new book or podcast until I had implemented ONE THING from the last book and got results from it. Then you end up with a beautiful life symphony of knowledge AND results - yay. 👏🏼

I use social media as a TOOL, something I can leverage to my advantage. I DON’T let social media control me and my emotions. Here’s what that looks like (take a note, some might surprise you)

1 - I don’t get bogged down or jealous or triggered when I see competitors doing better than me

2 - I don’t unfollow when leaders show off tangible results or materialistic items (money in the bank or luxury travel, expensive cars etc) instead I see what’s possible for me and use their content as my own little vision board

3 - If I’m plugged into mentorship and committed I don’t get distracted by other programmes/coaches and shiny objects. I’ll follow for the content but I’m not constantly questioning my own strategies. If and when the time comes where I need to try something else, I will. Stay in your lane.

5 reasons you need this, 3 ways to get this. Blah blah blah.

Educational content isn’t necessarily activating content. There’s no pain point hooking, and it certainly isn’t really designed with your ideal client in mind.

Here’s a tip for when you want to share educational content but you also want it to LAND with your dream clients:

Pick a point about that educational content that you know your dream client is or isn’t doing and call them out on it.

As you can see from the example, rather than just hooking with “5 reasons” I’ve hooked with a specific action the dream client is doing that’s causing a problem in their biz (which is putting their email marketing to the bottom of their to-do list)

The difference between what I tell you and what I don’t tell you:

Maybe I’m too matter of fact, but it has always intrigued me yet made sense to me, to put 💯 of my effort building a business into the things I, and only I, can control on a day to day basis to get maximum results out, long-standing results for years to come.

I’ve been there and done it in a corporate sales world as a nobody. I had to generate my own leads and time after time the bulk of my business came from the relationships I was building and not the quick calls or emails where I thought I’d give it a crack and win some business quickly. That sometimes happened, but if I focussed on just that every day it would have been feast or famine and eventually I’d have just burnt out.

Algorithms, trends, hacks are cool and might get you a quick result on the off chance but tried and tested techniques will come off top every time.

The advantage you have at the moment is none of your competitors want to do them and won’t be around in 6 - 12 months time, but you will be there to pick up all their audiences 😉

Tips to remember when writing content or sales pages:

⭐️ Humour always does well, even if it’s slightly dry or sarcastic

⭐️ Time to drop the polished professional act and write how you’d speak

⭐️ Don’t be afraid to go places others haven’t - be bold and say the stuff everyone is thinking but nobody says

⭐️ If your competitors’ looks the same, you’re not going to stand out

These tips when implemented pretty much immediately won me a 12k deal for my business back in my corporate recruitment days.

There’s no reason to suggest it’s not exactly the same in the coaching industry!

In fact when I started created my content like this, I noticed more aligned people showing up in my world and joining my email list.

Good copy can make you thousands.
