It's not you, it's the algorithm! Your posts get like 10 views and 2 comments, and one is from your bestie. We've all been there. But did you know that the issue is not necessarily your content?

Social media platforms use algorithms to determine how many people and which accounts to push your content to. One major determining factor in whether your content gets seen is actually how YOU interact with content on the platform! So, start trying these tips:

📣 Spend a few minutes a day or a couple of times a week commenting and engaging with other people's content using your business profile. It can be your followers, other local businesses (non-competitors) with similar clientele, or organizations you support.

📣 Reply to comments on your posts. Asking follow-up questions to commenters can help keep the engagement going.

📣 Use the call to action of some of your posts to ask engaging questions or start a discussion. Are there "hot takes" in your industry that people have strong opinions on but have little potential to really go off the rails? Think, "Does pineapple belong on pizza?" or "Does the toilet paper roll go over or under?"

With social media, you get what you give. Give it a try! Start engaging consistently and see your reach and engagement start to rise. It's how I managed to get over 250,000 views in one month on an account with under 500 followers with $0 ad spend!

You want content that connects, but you’re tired of recycling the same sale posts. Even social media professionals have those moments where we sit there and stare at Canva, Adobe Express, or CapCut on our screen, wondering what the heck to do this time. Not knowing what to post or a lack of ideas are one of the most significant social media pain points small business owners face.

If you’re tired of scrambling for ideas, you’re not alone. When in doubt, I think about the Cs for Content: Customer-focused, Community-centered, Conversation-starting, or Credibility-building. To get focused, I think about these content pillars that work for just about any business or organization type:

📣 Educational / Value: This includes tips, how tos, or other industry insights. Think about the problems your customers face and help them find solutions. (This post is actually an example!)

📣 Behind-the-Scenes: Showcase your authenticity, values, and what sets your business apart with content that gives a glimpse into the process, the people, and the effort that goes into what you do.

📣 Community & Connection: Highlight your customers, collaborations and partnerships with other local businesses and organizations, participation in events, or causes your business supports.

📣 Testimonials & Results: Show your receipts! Share proof that your products are awesome or your service is outstanding through reviews, before/afters, or case studies.

📣 Promotional / Sales: Highlight your products, services, or upcoming promotions. Just remember to keep it human!

What type of content is the most popular with your audience? Let us know your tips; you may just inspire a fellow business owner.

Business owners are already wearing so many hats that the social media sombrero can get lost in the shuffle. In the long list of things you need to do to keep your business operating profitably, social media often comes last. You’re juggling orders, emails, events, scheduling staff, payroll, and are somehow supposed to add getting creative with content to the list.

The truth is that customers who engage with a business on social media spend 20% to 40% more with them in the long term. It is not an "extra," it is a must if you want to connect with potential and existing customers and increase sales. Even one or two posts a week will keep your business visible.

For those with limited time, finding ways to batch content monthly or weekly will allow you to post consistently, even during the busiest times. Find an hour weekly or a couple of times a month on your slowest day and block it out in your schedule. Make an appointment with yourself and a commitment to your business!

Want a done-for-you posting plan? That’s my jam. I offer affordable packages tailored for small businesses who want to take a DIY approach. They include content calendars, posting plans, and one-on-one time with yours truly to keep you updated with the latest trends, provide support, and keep you accountable! Let's chat about how "do it yourself" doesn't have to mean you do it alone.

You would think that as a social media pro, I would love the spotlight and be totally comfortable in front of the camera. The truth is, while I am great at putting my clients and their businesses in the spotlight, I am not quite as comfortable there myself.

As I was reflecting today on the amazing opportunity I had earlier this year to showcase what I do with Shoutout LA Magazine, I decided sharing this was way overdue!

If someone would have told me 5 years ago that I would have a whole new career and advance as far as I have in such a short time, I wouldn't believe it!

I didn't take many photos at Meta, but I can't wait to see the group shot with the other awesome business owners and lovely people from Meta I got to meet. I have so much to share in a few days but in the meantime, here is a preview while I wait for my flight home.

Setting off for an adventure. Since I got certified by Meta, it's been on my bucket list to visit their headquarters someday. That day has arrived! Thanks to the Meta Business Leaders Network (United States) I was invited to participate in events and a roundtable with the CA Chamber of Commerce, other business owners, and developers about what the future of AI and social media means for business.

I can't wait to share what I learn with all of you!

Do you know the laws and regulations governing social media use and marketing for your industry? Businesses in finance, healthcare, cosmetic procedures, real estate, and legal services have to be especially careful. Additional platform regulations may apply to some products like alcoholic beverages, to***co, cannabis, and fi****ms.

Not only can violating policies and laws for your industry get you banned on social media, it can lead to legal action, fines, or lawsuits.

Are you curious about the regulations for your industry? Set up a free consultation (link in bio) to learn more.
