Sonny Smith:
"There are people who pursue the vintage sounds, but they use $10,000 microphones, $20,000 tape machines, and $50,000 boards, so they get this shiny, modern version of old music. They're always perplexed at how to sound like Dead Moon or something. It's so easy: You give $100,000 to charity, then you buy $500 worth of equipment, and you make your record."

the hallway of Capitol Studios, in the basement of the Capitol Tower, 1750 N. Vine St., it still looked like this when I started working there in 1989

ironically, it was in this very hallway I met Brians and shook his hand, just around the corner, on the ramp down from the first floor into the studios

1965: Brian's gift to a local Girl Scout troop visiting the studio was the new Beach Boys' single, "The Little Girl I Once Knew." The song was recorded before the Pet Sounds tracks "Sloop John B" and "You Still Believe In Me."

John Lennon loved the recording and had this to say: "This is the greatest! Turn it up, turn it right up. It's all Brian Wilson. He just uses the voices as instruments. You keep waiting for the fabulous breaks. Great arrangement. It goes on and on with all different things. I hope it's a hit so I can hear it all the time."
