Happy Tuesday y'all ◇ Morning thought outpour - horse training ain't for the faint of heart. Cracked ribs, a lacerated liver and a punctured lung are what it took me to learn lessons I didn't know I needed. I've been riding project horses for folks most of my riding career, started my first 2 y/o 8 years ago, ridden with and for head performance trainers, and have been professionally training in my career for almost 3 years. I have learned a PLETHORA about training horses for the public.

It's so important to know when to say no. For me, this is devastating because I want to educate and help every horse I possibly can. But the reality is not every horse is meant to be a riding horse, or meant to train and sell, or meant to be a kids horse. They are individuals just as we are, they have their own purpose and as domestic horses it's our job to find that purpose, and believe it or not it might not be what the client had originally planned for the horse.

I've learned that as a trainer you simply cannot train them all to be what's expected of them. It's been a tough lesson for me, but a 100% necessary one. I'm extremely humbled, and I've dug my heels in to get back to foundation work, the core of my program. My outside horses this month have shown me it's still rock solid, and put so many of my doubts and questions to bed. For that I am so grateful, for wonderful clients and folks who do their best to understand their horses and changes in plan in general. As my great friend Sandy always says -

RIP little Ginny. We are heartbroken to bring you the news that we’ve had to say goodbye to Pink Gin (or Ginny to her friends).

You may remember that Ginny was born at HorseWorld after her mum was rescued with 2 other pregnant mares who had suffered terrible neglect. Whilst their owner was eventually prosecuted, there was no such thing as a happy ending for the horses who suffered at his hands. The neglect her mother endured during her pregnancy set Ginny up for a fight she couldn't win.

Not long after she was born, Ginny faced her first battle and she became seriously ill with problems in her digestive system. But it soon became clear she wasn’t going to give up, and after excellent care from our vet and Welfare Team, she bounced back. Sadly that was just the start of her ongoing health issues.

Most recently she became very poorly after contracting salmonella. Even then she defied the odds and seemed to have made a full recovery. We were so happy to see her back out in the fields, kicking up her heels with her friends and showing her sweet, sassy spirit we had all grown to love so much.

But unfortunately, her gut issues continued to worsen and her health once again deteriorated. Medication didn’t help, and her most recent blood tests showed low protein, inflammation, and infection, indicating her digestive system was not functioning correctly and never would. Sadly, the sparkle had also gone from her eyes. That brave, confident little mare was fading away. Our vet had been with Ginny every step of the way and knew, as we did, that there was no more we could do. It was time to say goodbye.

Ginny was adored by all our staff, volunteers and supporters and we are devastated by this loss. Thank you for supporting her journey and allowing her to live two wonderful years full of love and the very best of care.💙

Sort of a rescue situation. He was pretty skinny and very skittish. We’ve worked with him a bit. Still needs work in standing for the farrier. He does pick up his feet but needs more work in standing still. Still skittish about stuff. Loading on trailers is not his favorite but he will do it. Currently stands around 14.3 maybe a little taller. Not a wide horse so would be better for a smaller rider. *Bonus* he does kill mice lol 😂 located in Watertown tn

**edit to ad he does have crushed heels. I think the farrier said it’s from previous owners letting him go too long between trims. I could be wrong because generally the fairies comes when I’m at work and a family member is there. He is currently barefoot
