XP-1 stands for Experimental Prototype 1. It’s the first of my designs I brought to life! The styling is meant to be as aggressive as possible but still functional. There is active aerodynamics incorporated into some of the body panels. The first 1:10 model was 3D printed in mostly PLA. The second 1:10 model was printed in ABS-Like Resin. Both models included body parts and frame. So the kit builder got to choose between building it as a model or figuring out the components to make it an RC car! This was successful but got me thinking 🤔… And I came up with SOMETHING BIG!

Inside the Jaguar Aura: Very hungry seats that eat any and everything but you just can’t crawl out of them because they are wayyyy too comfortable. Racing steering wheel with adjustable controls. “Floating” middle console with storage and wireless charging below. Touchscreen center monitor and separate touch screen climate controls. (I may add some manual dials.) Plenty of leg space and head space. Twin Turbo V12 Engine Cover because… well you know why because.

The hood curve doesn’t quite match the fenders. This is noticeable in the gap. Again just slight movements inside gravity sketch will correct this.

Other than that I am very satisfied with the face design. It screams ‘Big Cat’ while retaining that classic Jaguar mouth opening. The stance is proper. The hips, the curves, everything you’d look for in a classic Jaguar sports car.

Jaguar Aura PROCESS
Collaboration with Jamie Barrett -
The side profile still needs a bit of work. Let me explain. The door indentation surface geometry ripples after the intention comes to its end. This also impacts the curvature of the upper door causing an uneven highlight. Fixing this takes a steady hand and slight movements in Gravity Sketch. Also a bit of back and forth in the rendering software. Zebra stripes are a big help during this process as well.

The last slide shows the rear bumper shut line. The edges need bent into one another with a common fillet. Afterwards the surface geometry needs perfected. Zebra stripes come in handy during this step as well.

More to come!
