According to J. Henri Arnulphy, General Manager of Raffles Bali, the resort's recent Green Globe recertification represents an important milestone in its ongoing commitment to responsible hospitality. He shared that the achievement reflects the collective efforts of colleagues across all departments, demonstrating how sustainability has become an integral part of daily operations rather than a standalone initiative.
Throughout the year, we remained committed to our belief that people and nature are inseparable, recognizing that environmental progress and social well-being go hand in hand. Moving forward, guided by Accor's 2030 sustainability strategy, Hosting Change, we continue to create a positive impact through environmental stewardship, responsible resource management, community engagement, and cultural preservation, all while contributing meaningfully to the places and communities that welcome us.
Across the resort, numerous initiatives have been implemented to reduce environmental impact while maintaining the high standards of service and guest experiences expected of Raffles. These include water and energy management, composting garden waste to fertilize the resort landscape, and biodiversity conservation efforts such as turtle conservation (Penyu Reserve). The resort also actively supports local communities through cultural experiences, partnerships with local artisans and producers that contribute to the protection of Bali's cultural heritage.
Sustainability is also reflected in the resort's development philosophy. Set across a 23-hectare estate, approximately 60% of the landscape has been intentionally left untouched, preserving existing greenery, natural terrain and biodiversity. Guests are invited to engage with this environment through experiences such as the Botanical Tour and Wings of the Wild, which highlight the rich ecosystem found throughout the property.
The recertification process also provided an opportunity for the resort to review its progress, identify areas for improvement, and strengthen collaboration across departments. Henri emphasised that the achievement belonged not only to the Sustainability Committee, but to every colleague who contributes to the resort's sustainability goals through everyday decisions and actions.
Looking ahead, Raffles Bali remains focused on continuous improvement and innovation. Future priorities include further strengthening resource efficiency, supporting biodiversity protection, deepening community partnerships and enhancing the integration of sustainability throughout the guest experience. While the Green Globe recertification is an important recognition of the progress achieved so far, Henri views it as another step in an ongoing journey to create meaningful, long-term value for guests, colleagues, partners and the destination that Raffles Bali proudly calls home.
