We have Sports Bras and Biker Shorts available NOW through the SJL shop 💥 Shout out to & who created these designs for our Women’s Month initiative last year! 💅
Please also consider furthering our movement by donating to our partner Non-Profit , who is actively providing essential products and resources to the many underserved women and families they give back to everyday, in Watts, Compton and South Los Angeles.

So many people think that having prior criminal convictions means you can't go back to work, or may be subjected back into a system that has already failed or lacked support for them... Expungement clinics and services have provided thousands of people the opportunity to get back to work and on their feet by sealing their records. 🤞

At the heart of SJL, is an absolutely incredible woman, leader and change-maker in the Watts community, 🖤

Big Mama made a huge impact on our lives when we first met her near the end of 2020, and has since shaped the entirety of our initial business model and purpose towards the betterment of underserved communities. ✊
Who we are and what we do, is a large result of Big Mama.

This highlight is just a minuscule example of the work, love and care she gives so graciously to the community.

One of the greatest ways to create impact (and be impacted) by a community, is to get to know and build relationships with the people who inhabit the space. Thank you to and for coming in to experience the Watts community and share their stories ✊

From the words of , we couldn’t have said it better ourselves:

When creating The Social Justice League series with ACTIIVST, we filmed in the Imperial Courts housing project in Watts. Spending time there opened my eyes to a world I thought I knew, and it changed me for the better.

Welcomed into the community and behind the curtain by and founder Cynthia ‘Big Mama’ Mendenhall, I admit being stunned by the work they’re doing. It’s all happening without fanfare, boots on the ground, and unbeknownst to anyone other than the people being served.

Most of society only wants you to know that Imperial Courts is where the PJ Watts Crips were founded. Media and movies only want to paint a picture of violence, drugs, and despair. Don’t get me wrong, the issues are real and confronting, but Watts is a beautiful neighborhood filled with beautiful people who are looking out for one another. There’s a deep sense of community that you can feel on the streets. I’m humbled by the experience and eager to learn more 🙏🏽

Have you checked out our non-profit partner ?! As part of our Toy Drive initiative Big Mama/Sista Soulja and her organization were recently featured as an Non-Profit of the Night. 🤞🏾🦾 This video, produced by SJL, was projected on the Jumbotron shortly before kick off! The feature also included a half-time on-court shout out, merch and a booth. The result? Reach, engagement, donations and the start to several great conversations. 🎯

Impact Recap 🎯

T-Mann’s Toy Drive put up numbers this holiday season! 🎁🏋️‍♀️

Collectively, we presented over 500 gifts, contributed to 3 holiday drives, sponsored 7 families (furniture, gifts & groceries), supported 10 Black-owned businesses, provided 150+ tickets, raised over $2,000 and distributed 5,000+ socks and SJL shirts. 🤩🤞🏾🦾
