Thank you to everyone who participated and attended the SOMA/AnderTech DataThon last Friday! We were impressed by the detailed analyses and recommendations of the current COVID-19 situation that each team put forth. Thank you to our SOMA board members Eddie McGolrick and Charlotte Fagan for helping to put together this successful event!

Join SOMA and AnderTech for our first ever Datathon! What's a Datathon? It's an event where groups use data to answer a prompt in a concentrated amount of time to practice and expand their data analysis skills. This event is for everyone from aspiring data analysts to coding pros to use their skills to approach a pressing real-world situation - the spread of the coronavirus and its impact on different occupations in the US.

Here is a great opportunity for those of you interested in getting more experience with data science. SOMA and AnderTech are partnering to bring Cognitir, a global training company, to UCLA Anderson for a two-day workshop. We will learn how to use Python to analyze real-world data sets, draw meaningful conclusions from the data, and present results in a clear persuasive manner.
