Are You Enjoying Your Luxury Items?

Just recently I discovered that I’m one of the millions of women who was blissfully unaware of the luxury tax placed on menstrual items. (State tax, not Federal) More jokes in that sentence than I could count…don’t know of any women who consider their period a luxury. As President Obama, (also unaware that such a tax existed), commented, it was likely men who passed that legislation, and he was pretty sure that Michelle did not consider it a luxury either. To this point, I’m particularly outraged considering that both of our US State Senators from CA are women! (Sen. Feinstein and Sen. Boxer) For me, so are my State Senate and Assembly representatives. (Sen. Carol Liu, and Assembly Member Patty Lopez) How could they have allowed this legislation to stand? While admittedly a State issue, not a Federal one, all four of them will be hearing from me on behalf of myself, my three daughters, and all women! Can’t believe it’s actually legislation to charge women luxury tax on these items. No luxury tax on Vi**ra! Anyway, just letting every woman I know about it, and if you’d like to include your voice. Here is a link to a petition to reverse this discriminatory tax.
