TECHPAKCS = FASHION INDUSTRY RAGE BAIT
There’s a hot take floating around that tech packs make no F*cking sense
We get where that’s coming from—but let’s clear a few things up.
Tech packs (production pack, spec packs… whatever you call them) are absolutely necessary—but not always at every stage.
If your goal is to get to your first prototype fast, you don’t need a perfect tech pack. You need something clear enough for your factory to start building from—flat sketches, key measurements, construction notes, and reference images go a long way.
But once you’ve fit and approved your garment?
That’s when your full, detailed tech pack becomes non-negotiable.
Why?
Because it’s a tool to maintain quality control, fit consistency, and alignment across teams—especially when you’re working across languages and time zones. It’s your universal translator, your product’s blueprint, your insurance policy, your product’s personal history book.
BUT all Techpacks are not created equally. A sh*tty Techpack can cause more confusion than answers. A great Techpack is a visual and verbal blue print, it’s clear and comprehensive so there is little left to interpretation, creating consistency instead of chaos.
The takeaway:
✨ Don’t let perfectionism delay your sampling
✨ But don’t skip documentation before production
Good factories can fill in gaps—but great brands make sure there aren’t any.
