As of the upcoming year 2024, significant changes are set to transform the landscape of CA’s State Disability Insurance (SDI) program, directly impacting employers and employees. The most noteworthy change in 2024 is the removal of the wage ceiling that capped the amount of income subject to SDI taxation.

Significant changes in 2024 are set to transform CA’s State Disability Insurance (CA SDI) program directly impacting employers and employees.

Friends and Colleagues,

Able ARTS Work is moving into its 40th year as a non-profit offering creative arts services and opportunities for people with disabilities and children and adults interested in inclusive art exploration. During the pandemic, the Able ARTS Work staff has kept their adult clients with disabilities engaged with 5,500 Zoom sessions, 4,500 individual art or music therapy sessions, and 250 YouTube videos. Through art education and music therapy programs, the staff serves 2,500 at-risk children from preschool to 12th grade. This last year, Able ARTS Work expanded their 30-hour per week Adult Services Program to San Diego and launched a virtual learning platform that has generated interest nationwide and in 57 countries.

The work they do is fantastic! They are now searching for a building in Long Beach and becoming a permanent fixture for marginalized populations in the arts community. Together the Board and staff have raised $967,000. Please join me in helping them reach their goal of $1 million raised by the end of 2021. Any size donation helps and is tax-deductible (EIN #-95-3658291). My personal goal as a Board member is to raise $300 in the next two weeks. Click on the Funraise link to donate https://ahomeofourown.funraise.org.

Able Arts Work’s mission is to provide lifelong learning, community service, and vocational opportunities through the creative arts for people of all abilities. Their guiding philosophy is Love before Learning. Learn for Life. You can find more information about them at www.ableartswork.org.

Able ARTS Work offers services and opportunities though the creative arts and therapies.

Dear Friends,

I have the privilege of serving on the Board of Directors for Able ARTS Work (AAW). Founded in Long Beach in 1982, Able ARTS Work's guiding philosophy is "Love Before Learning. Learn for Life." Their core service provides a 30-hour per week adult day program to 150 adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Grant-funded outreach programs serve over 2,000 at-risk youth through music therapy services on Head Start preschool campuses and K-12th grade special education classes and after school art, music, and theater workshops to at-risk youth throughout Los Angeles County.

On September 10, 2021, we will be hosting the opening of Able ARTS Work’s new exhibit, Timeline, at our gallery at 2nd & PCH at 4:30 pm and a Harbor Sunset Cruise at 6:00 pm to raise funds for our new Long Beach building.

Join us for live music, drinks, and gourmet food on a beautiful yacht while supporting a great cause. The evening will also include honoring Brock Kaericher, former President of REMO, Co., and Steve West, Chairman at West Music Company, who will both receive the Ami and Remo Belli Humanitarian award. Tickets are $500 each, and other sponsorship opportunities are listed below. Each ticket has a tax-deduction value of $350.

Last fall, Able ARTS Work launched a capital campaign, A Home of Our Own, to purchase a building in Long Beach. So far, we've raised $125,000 and need to raise $700,000 more for a down payment on a facility. Meeting this goal will help us leverage large grants from our partner foundations. I'm asking for your help to make this dream come true for Able ARTS Work.

·All donations are tax-deductible.

·Contributions over $25,000 will be recognized by donor name recognition on studios within the building, and a large piece of artwork within the building will display the names of all other big and small donations. Our Tax ID Number is 95-3658291.
·AAW will give social media and print acknowledgment to donating corporations throughout the year-long campaign.

Sincerely,
Steve

On December 27th, the President signed the second COVID-19 stimulus bill, which includes impactful benefits for businesses that have been negatively impacted by the pandemic. This bill allows businesses that have previously received PPP loans to also obtain the Employee Retention Credit ("ERC").

The cash benefits of the ERC are quite significant and immediate. The maximum refund is $5,000 per employee in 2020 and $28,000 per employee in 2021.

The ERC is monetized through employer payroll taxes and is a refundable credit. This fully refundable tax credit was designed to make it easier for businesses to keep employees on payroll by offsetting payroll taxes both retroactively and for 2021. However, there is no requirement on how to use the funds and it does not have to be repaid.

Any business or nonprofit that experienced, or is currently experiencing, any one of the criteria below can potentially qualify for this incentive:

Please let me know if you have any questions and if you have any clients that you would like us to look at for refund potential.
