Samantha Jankoff, Local Childcare Consultant, Cultural Care Au Pair

Samantha Jankoff, Local Childcare Consultant, Cultural Care Au Pair Choosing childcare is no easy decision. Hosting a Cultural Care au pair gives thousands of families across the country those very important benefits.

I provide year-round support to host families and au pairs, and also talk to families considering the program to help them determine if Cultural Care Au Pair is the right childcare solution for them. Because as parents, we don’t ever want to compromise on quality, flexibility and trust when finding care for the most important people in the world. I invite you to learn more about who our au pairs a

re, what they do, and why more families than ever are joining our program. For over 35 years, Cultural Care Au Pair has helped host families across the country secure childcare that provides flexibility, trust and cultural exchange. Our families love welcoming au pairs year after year. Cultural Care au pairs are carefully screened young adults from over 25 countries worldwide who have childcare experience, CPR and First Aid certification and an interest in joining an American family for a year. FLEXIBILITY
An au pair can provide up to 45 hours per week of childcare (up to 10 hours per day) on a schedule you decide, including early morning, evening and weekend coverage. Au pairs can also care for your children when they are sick, out from school on snow days and during school vacations. Families with busy schedules love hosting au pairs! TRUST
Because an au pair lives with you as a member of your family, your relationship with her develops quickly and mutual trust happens much faster than with a daycare provider or live-out nanny. After an initial period of adjustment, our host parents describe feeling a deep sense of comfort knowing their children are cared for by someone they know and respect. CULTURE
Au pairs come from many countries all over the world and can expose your entire family to their language and culture. Your children will learn words in your au pair’s native tongue and well as songs and games from her home country. Au pairs also help children gain a renewed appreciation for their own environment and a desire to see more of the world. PROTECTION
Cultural Care Au Pair is a government-regulated program, meaning there are guidelines in place designed to protect both families and au pairs during the exchange year. It also means that au pairs travel to the U.S. on a legal J-1 visa, allowing them to stay in the country (and with your family) for up to two years.

"Daya has enriched our family in ways that are hard to put into words. She
brings a calming, steady, joyful presence into our home. She shares her
culture and traditions in a way that broadens our own, making our holidays
and everyday moments feel richer and more connected. She has taught all of
us—Anthony and me included—to slow down a little, appreciate the
moment, and lead with warmth.
She hasn’t just joined our household; she has added depth, love, and light to
it. We are incredibly grateful for who she is and the influence she has on our
girls and on us. We truly can’t imagine our family without her." – Olivia, host
mom in Washington.

"Oliwia has been caring for our daughter, Simona, since she was just three months old. Simona is now 21 months old, and in that time Oliwia has become an essential part of our family. We truly cannot imagine this stage of our daughter’s life without her. Oliwia is endlessly positive, happy, and nurturing. She has a unique ability to handle stressful or emotional moments with silliness, patience, and kindness.
What stands out most about Oliwia is her heart. She brings joy, stability, and genuine love into everything she does. We feel incredibly lucky to have had her help shape our
daughter’s earliest years, and we know the impact she has had on Simona will last far
beyond this time. Oliwia is one of those rare people who makes everyone around her
better, and our family is forever grateful for her. – Aleksandra, host mom in Virginia.

"Ever since Maru's arrival our family has been enriched in every aspect, as her creativity and compassion shine through in everything that she does. Whether it is the fruit flowers she creates in the kids’ breakfast, pizza parties she hypes up for the girls when we are not home complete with balloons and decor, or the way she sets up the toy and bookshelves by creating intricate scenes as if the toys are already playing. Maternity leave this time around also feels different with Maru here - she helped us
transition from a family of 4 to a family of 6 (baby and Maru!) and we will forever be grateful.
We are so thankful she is spending her second year with us, and we are so proud of the connections she has made and the life she has created for herself during her time here. We knew Maru was special when we first met, but we didn’t know she was the family we didn’t know we were missing." – Lindsay, host mom in Illinois.

Why new parents are choosing au pair childcare
The early days with a newborn are full of love, change, and a lot of
unknowns. Having someone by your side during this time can make
everything feel a little more manageable. Because childcare should feel like
support, not stress.

There’s something incredibly special about the bond between an au pair and
the littlest ones With babies and toddlers, trust is built in the quiet,
everyday moments — soothing them to sleep, learning their cues,
celebrating first milestones, and being the familiar face they reach for.
Over time, that once-new connection becomes a true sense of comfort and
security for both the child and the family.

the Menon family from
Nominated by their au pair Aarishta, the Menon family shows what it really
means to create a sense of belonging : “There wasn’t just one moment
when they became my family. It has been a collection of moments every day
where I feel seen, valued and loved. I don’t see them as a second family, but
as part of my real family. I’m grateful to have two homes in two countries
and to truly know what it feels like to belong.”
Congrats again to the Menon family on this well-deserved honor!

Meet our 2026 Au Pair of the Year Sara from Italy!
Sara’s host mom, Ashley, shared just how much she means to their family:
“Sara embodies everything Cultural Care represents—connection, curiosity,
growth, family, and wholehearted cultural exchange. She lifts up other au
pairs, strengthens families, and brings warmth to every space she enters.
There is truly no one more deserving. ”From the care she shows her host
family to the impact she has on those around her, Sara is a beautiful example
of what the au pair experience is all about.
Join me in celebrating Sara and this incredible achievement
