Amy Green, founding partner of Silverlake Conservation, was interviewed for this article in the LA Times! She has been spending quite a bit of time in Altadena working on the tile recovery effort. If you have a decorative tile fireplace that survived the Altadena fire or know someone who does, Save the Tiles will removed it and box it for you for free with professional masons. There are no strings attached - just a mission to save as many historic tile fireplaces as possible. Please contact them before the Army Corp of Engineers bulldozes your house.

Meet the volunteers who are scrambling to save vintage tiles from homes in the Altadena burn zone before the bulldozers arrive.

Proud to show off our recently completed project at the Santa Barbara Public Library! We worked on the the Tympanum, a painted decorative wooden tableau above the original entry door. Installed in 1924, the Tympanum features Plato (pointing up) and Aristotle surrounded by shields from important European libraries and the City of Santa Barbara’s Coat of Arms above. The design is based on Raphael's famous fresco "The School of Athens." The first photo is the finished Tympanum. Images 2-9 are before and after photos. And the last 3 are fun pictures of our crew at work.

He was also a pioneer, entrepreneur, and thoroughbred horse racing enthusiast. The sculpture is owned by the City of Arcadia and is located at the intersection of Huntington Dr. and Holly Ave., right across the street from Santa Anita Park racetrack.

Silverlake Conservation recently completed work on the Hugo Reid Family sculpture by Preston L. Prescott located at the Gilb Museum of Arcadia Heritage in Arcadia, CA. This life-size cast stone sculpture depicts Hugo Reid, his wife Victoria, their children Maria and Felipe, and the family dog. The Reids were granted the Rancho Santa Anita, a 13,000 acre land grant in the present day San Gabriel Valley, in 1845 by Pio Pico. The project involved cleaning the sculpture, reducing the heavy biological growth on its north side, and applying a biocide to deter future biological growth. We also patched and toned some of the losses in the piece.
