The Phylmar Group recently won an achievement award from the Environmental Business Journal for outstanding business performance in the "New Practice Areas" category! According to the EBJ, we won this award "for launching Phylmar Academy with a new model for the development of online training in workplace and environmental safety and health. In collaboration with Nike, Phylmar Academy created a 1 ½ hour online Culture of Safety training, replacing expensive in-person training. Nike is willing to share their assessment tool, allowing Phylmar Academy to offer the course to anyone, anywhere and Phylmar Academy is now offering customized online training programs to clients incorporating animation, video, and virtual reality." We are thrilled about this!

OHTA APPOINTS NEW BOARD AND ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEMBERS
The Occupational Hygiene Training Association (OHTA) has announced a number of appointments to its Board of Directors and its Advisory Committee and our very own Mark Katchen made the cut!

OHTA’s Board of Directors (also Charity Trustees) manages the organization and is responsible for strategic direction and policy. Recently, The Phylmar Group’s Mark Katchen, worked with a client looking to acquire a small business of about 65 employees. In his tour of the facility, he was struck by two things:
- The company didn’t have many written programs that supported safety and health regulatory compliance
- It had a great safety record and hands on safety training

Mark had a positive first impression of the business- he felt that it had an empathetic and caring culture. The business had hired former gang members to help educate and support them in their pursuit for better lives and Mark noticed that there was open communication between supervisors and employees.
