Help us dispel the myths of black cats being adopted for satanic rituals in October!
Black cats need homes, and these urban legends -- which are not supported by research or the experience of most reputable shelters -- are hurting, not helping, the beautiful black cats in shelters who need homes. More than 30 percent of cats in shelters are black, and they often get passed over by adopters who choose more showy, colorful felines.
That's why we are urging cat lovers everywhere to promote black cat adoptions and to help us dispel myths that discourage adoptions of black cats -- at Halloween or any other time.
We take our mission to care for our animals very seriously- that includes taking the time to find them loving and responsible homes- during free pet adoption fairs and all year round. Potential adopters go through our normal adoption process to ensure the safety of our pets which includes talking to them about their pet history, experience and expectations. From there our adoption advisers decide on the best matches for each person and pet.
