Dear Ex-Meta Mates,
For those of you who woke up this morning carrying anguish, fear, and anxiety, unsure of what news awaited you — I’m deeply sorry you had to experience that. You are seen, valued, and have been on my heart since the announcement of another round of layoffs.
And for those who received the dreaded email today… my heart truly goes out to you. I know the weight of that moment can feel crushing. But even if it doesn’t make sense right now, I want you to know this: your story is not over. This setback does not define your worth, your talent, or your future. I truly believe what feels like an ending today can become the very thing that propels you toward the life and purpose meant for you.
To those who survived this round but are left carrying the emotional toll of layoff culture — wondering if you’re “safe” today but maybe not tomorrow — I see you too. The uncertainty changes people. But your work, your leadership, and your presence still matter. Continue showing up, continue giving your best, and continue making an impact where you are.
And to anyone reliving their own layoff experience because of today’s news: healing is possible. There are so many stories of people who later realized being laid off became the catalyst that redirected them toward deeper purpose, healthier lives, stronger faith, entrepreneurship, better opportunities, or more aligned careers.
If that’s your story, I encourage you to share it in the comments. Someone reading this today may desperately need the reminder that there is life, hope, and purpose on the other side of loss. 🤍
