Get Your Sleep On

Get Your Sleep On Dina Kamionski, is a certified Speech Language Pathologist, mama of 3 (twins and a baby), creator and founder of Get Your Sleep On. Now go Get Your Sleep On!

After giving birth to my twins I had barely a clue what to do in regards to sleep and daily activities with one child much less two! After the initial shock and feelings of helplessness, I set out to do research on the most beneficial and effective strategies to ensure my twins happiness and well being. Upon incorporating these strategies I saw immediate success. I then began spreading the word an

d helping out friends and fellow Facebookers. My 3 happy and healthy children (all under 3 years old) sleep a solid 12 hours a night from a very young age of 4 months. As a result they are happy children who are eager to learn and explore the world at their fingertips. As a hardworking mother it is important for everyone to get a good night's rest to function happily throughout the day. I would love to spread the love to do the same for you!

Here is a great study I just discovered published in 2012 discussing the longterm effects of babies who were sleep trained and the ZERO amount of psychological damage found 5 years later.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Randomized trials have demonstrated the short- to medium-term effectiveness of behavioral infant sleep interventions. However, concerns persist that they may harm children’s emotional development and subsequent mental health. This study aimed to determine long-term harms a…

My motto usually is if it's not broken don't fix it...the same goes for tongue ties otherwise known as Ankyloglossia. If it's not affecting your baby's latch and feeding no need to clip it. Well what about impairing Speech production you might ask? Well there is no significant empirical evidence to support a causal link between having a tongue tie and clear Speech production.

Having clear and open communication is so important when transitioning to a new activity whether it's transitioning back to the car from a fun activity, to the dinner table or to bed, back and forth communication and understanding is key to a calm and happy parent-child bond :)

This was well timed as I'm currently going through this with my almost 2 year old. I've found that letting him take ownership of something really helps us leave. I let him push the button on the garage door, hold my car keys, go outside to look at the moon or an airplane keep us all from losing our…

What is Self Soothing?
Self soothing is the valuable skill of your baby falling asleep on their own. When they aren't dependent on rocking, bouncing, eating, or other forms of dependent soothing techniques in order to fall asleep, they can be placed in their crib awake and will fall asleep and stay asleep on their own. This is crucial for babies, children and parents, so that when we might wake up in middle of the night, we look at our surroundings and go back to sleep as usual instead of feeling alarmed and wondering why we're not eating or being rocked back to sleep.

Despite the trip to the potty, then going back in to pick up the dropped blankie, the duet of "I love you Mama" as I close the door for the 3rd time tonight makes it all worth it
