Had the honor and privilege of judging the first ever Water Choice Awards in NYC today hosted by The Daily Pour

Thank you so much to Ashley Epperson of Salacious Drinks for inviting me to be one of the judges. I had so much fun meeting and talking water with everyone, and trying 67 different waters!! What a day.

My latest article on is about and the growing trend of fear-based water marketing.

Over the past few months I’ve had a ton of people send me screenshots from the app asking if their favorite water is suddenly “bad” or “unsafe” because of a score on their phone.

The reality is a little more complicated.

In this piece, I break down where some of these numbers come from, why context matters, and why I think consumers deserve a more nuanced conversation about water quality than simply being told something is 10x, 100x, or 1,000x above a certain “goal.”

I’m all for transparency. I’m all for testing. But I’m not convinced fear is the best way to educate people.
