Gami Burger is a playful sub‑brand of Origami Asian Grill by Chef Scott Ostrander, born from a recurring burger special that captured the imagination of friends, regulars, and eventually the wider community. What started as a late‑night indulgence at Origami grew into a local phenomenon — burgers so compelling they demanded their own identity. Gami Burger will channel that grassroots momentum into a focused, burger‑centric diner that feels both nostalgic and contemporary.

The grill in the center of the dining room came with the space, but still needed some smart reconfiguration. We designed a new countertop around the grill and storage cabinet to allow for tong holders, a trash bin compartment and shelving for backup supplies.

The soffit lighting was updated to a golden hue to fully transform the space into a butterscotch colored den.

The back bar from the previous occupants was under-utilized, so we embraced to true dive bar stylings and created stepped shelving on the back bar with golden LED light strips to highlight our extensive spirit collection. Rather than hang artwork or shelves above these tiered bottles, we installed mirror panels to open up the space which allows bar guests to see and feel connected to the main dining room. We hired artist to custom paint our logo on the center of the back wall - similar to an old beer mirror you would find in an old pub. We then flanked the logo with two butterscotch-colored sconces that shimmer light across the mirror adding to the dim butterscotch glow during dinner service.

For the walls in the bar, we implemented an inexpensive effect by using a single color of navy blue paint in rotating finishes of eggshell and gloss stripes to create some dimension when light hits it.

The was a low-budget flip as the restaurant group was still battling the effects of the pandemic. Luckily it was originally modeled after one of our favorite bars in San Diego, Turf Supper Club. This mid-century dive was the inspiration for the flip ~ to create our own retro steakhouse that feels like it was built decades ago and survived the test of time. We kept the ugly carpet and the weathered faux leather booths and focused most of the updated interior design on the wall surfaces in the space. Loud 1970s wall-paper was added to the main dining room as our one big splurge (but we got it on sale).

Looking back towards the stage, we sourced a beautiful golden velvet for the stage curtain that has the logo projected onto it during live performances. Although the logo isn’t pictured in these images, you’ll just have to go in and see for yourself.

A 1970s-inspired steakhouse needs the right menu designs and coasters to give the impression that it has survived the test of time. For we had two faux-leather menu colors (marshmallow for the bar and butterscotch for the restaurant) custom stamped with our sub-logo and then designed playful interior pages to showcase our approachable food & beverage selection. Our coasters were designed with a custom scalloped edge to mimic the napkins of mid-century restaurants and were printed in three colors (mint, ivory and butterscotch). You’ll also find our sub-logo branded into our ice cubes and on display on our stage curtain.

Opened last month, this favorite new bar is actually a re-brand of the space that Irish Hospitality Group took over. As a flip, it felt obvious that the space and concept should honor the history of the building and neighborhood. Ready to grill steaks and Martinis served ice cold are what defines this “captured in time” steakhouse in the Oak Park neighborhood of Sacramento. Looking back into the aesthetics of mid-century restaurants, this scripted logotype aims to feel convey a sense of nostalgia and dive bar elegance that has survived the decades of change.

A lil snippet of how the Brand Identity for is utilized through the classic mid-century illustrations found on our first t-shirt design, gift card and holder and how we playful added the sub logo “The BD” to our complimentary butterscotch candies that arrive with each guest check.
