Are you actually being yourself out there?
Not the polished, curated, “what will they think” version.
The real one.
Hear me out: the right clients are not looking for perfect. They’re looking for someone who feels like them. Someone they trust before they even get on a call.
And that only happens when you’re actually showing up as YOU.
Not more professional. Not more inspirational. Just more YOUUUUUUU!
The designers who attract dream clients consistently? They stopped trying to appeal to everyone and started letting the right people find them.
That’s the takeaway here.
So the question isn’t “am I doing enough marketing.”
It’s “am I being visible as myself.”
Are you? 👀

🎙️New podcast episode 95 is live!

I’m joined by Renee Biery, . interior designer and host of The Only Girl on the Job Site podcast.

And we are getting into the part of design that most people avoid… construction.

We talk about:
– how to actually work with contractors
– what your role really is on a job site
– why communication breaks down
– and how understanding construction can completely change your business

If this part of your business has ever felt unclear, you’re going to want to listen to this one.

‼️ WARNING: RANT LOADING: If your website looks beautiful but no one’s reaching out… we have a problem.

I’m on an email list right now where every designer’s site looks exactly the same. Clean. Polished. And completely silent when it comes to actually speaking to the client.

No clear message.
No real connection.
No easy way to even get in touch.

A pretty website that doesn’t convert is just an expensive coffee table book.

Your site should do one thing really well: make the right client feel seen and ready to take the next step.

If it’s not doing that… it’s not working.

Canva just made something I’ve wanted for a long time actually possible.

It’s called Magic Layers, and if you haven’t tried it yet, here’s what it does:

It removes every element from your image background, individually, so you can move, delete, or swap anything in the frame.

For designers, that means:

Remove a sofa that the client insisted on keeping (and show them why it doesn’t work)Swap out a chair to present an alternate option without a full reshootClear the background of a room entirely to isolate a focal pointFix staging details that weren’t caught before the photographer leftYou’re not starting over. You’re editing what’s already there.

Go to Edit, then Magic Layers. It takes about ten seconds to see what it does.

What’s the first room element you’d pull out?

🎙️New podcast episode is live. Episode 94 and I know you’ll love it.

AI is not just an assistant.

When you use it the right way, it’s like adding ten high-level people to your team.

But most designers aren’t using it that way.

They try it once, it feels off, and they stop.

In this episode, I walk you through three ways I actually use AI in my marketing.

Not just captions. The behind-the-scenes ways that make it useful.

And the one thing that changes everything:

It’s all in how you set it up.

If AI has felt confusing or like a waste of time, start here.

And if you want help setting it up, I’m teaching this live on May 13th 🙌🏻

Details in the link in my bio.

Nobody talks about this part of scaling.

I had seven people and twelve projects and a business that looked great on paper.

But I had built it around someone else’s idea of winning, not mine.

So I pulled back. Smaller team, fewer clients, a lot more intention.

The business got more profitable.

Not because I worked harder.

Because I got honest about what I actually wanted.

You can do that too.

What does your version of “enough” look like?

Tell me in the comments.
