If you know me, you know I'm a positive, optimistic person, the glass half full type of vibe. I believe in people. I have hope.
And when it comes to the professional astrology community as it currently stands, I refuse to give any more of my time or money to feed the monster. I will not be attending UAC. I view what's happening there as an institutional and cultural cancer.
I, and so many others, have stepped forward multiple times, raising issues with different players at different levels of power and hierarchy, only to watch the concern get brushed under the rug or met with a light pat on the wrist and then the cycle continues.
I would love the day there is a truly safe professional astrology community for everyone, including BIPOC, LGBTQ+ and all the global majority. Right now, I don't see that. I've been out of that circle for two years, and I want to acknowledge that a lot of my friends and colleagues still participate — it's a complicated social reality, and I hold space for that.
I still celebrate the union, the gathering, the friendships and solace found at places like UAC. That's the beautiful part, and I walked away with that too. I also walked away with a lot of damage and trauma.
A lot of this is unnecessary because people want to be abusive, don't know how to change and the social webbing around it, the people involved, let it persist.
I'm out.
