Deborah has been working in the dental field since 1995 and loves to interact with our patients and make the dental experience as great as possible. She obtained her Associate of Arts in accounting at Fullerton JC and her Bachelor of Arts in business management at Cal State Fullerton. Building personal relationships, working through treatment concerns and creating financial plans have all inspired her desire to grow and strengthen her skills. She believes there is nothing like the satisfied look on a patient’s face when they have navigated the sometimes-confusing world of insurance and financing and the unknown realm of treatment to finish with an amazing, aesthetically beautiful smile.
Being an office manager has added more responsibility than any career or office that she has had the pleasure of being a part of. Her constant training and education is a huge part of her life. Her ultimate desire for her office is to succeed.
One of the things she enjoys most about dentistry is seeing how changing a patient’s smile transforms their life. She also makes time to enjoy camping, boating and all eight of her grandchildren.

Yesterday I started getting panicked emails asking if claims will be denied if you provide services during a mandated shut down time. I reached out to several of my carrier contacts and they all gave variations of the same answer. Here's the deal:

▪️All of the carriers have sent their staff home so any work is being done remotely. Any PAPER claims, appeals or credentialing will have to wait for their physical offices to reopen. Portals are the way to go right now. Another reason to switch away from paper anything when dealing with carriers.

▪️ At this point the President and most state governments have prohibited non-emergency related care. That doesn't mean dental work stops. Many of you are still seeing patients on an emergency only basis. If you are providing emergency services then your records will need to show that the procedure is of an emergency nature. THIS IS IMPORTANT FOR TWO REASONS: if you need to prove it to get a claim paid but also in the case that a patient claims they became ill as a result of visiting your office.

This rumor grew quickly because of social media. I love FB groups but sometimes we need to take a step back and rely on common sense. Information spreads rapidly - please try to not panic. I know we're in uncharted territory and it's scary out there. If I could hug each one of you to reassure you then I would. But you know, virus things. 😄😷
