Raw, veg-tan & deconstructed: all synonymous with Taka footwear. I started off in fashion as a footwear designer and learned the trade hands-on in artisan workshops in Peru. We’re lucky that Peru has conserved traditional shoemaking techniques that came over from Italy in the previous century. This craft has been largely untouched by mass industrialization.

15 years later, designing Taka shoes, I draw on construction methods unique to these processes. The result is a malleable, versatile shoe that acts as a blank canvas to transform with the wearer. It’s a living thing.
