We had a powerful Q&A after a screening of The Girl from Salonika hosted by ICMGLT!

Director Alison Jayne Wilson discussed the making of the film, which follows the story of Mazaltov ‘Fofo’ Behar, a 17 year old Greek girl deported to Auschwitz-Birkenau and a victim of N**i sterilization experiments at the hands of N**i doctor Horst Schumann.

Two of the documentary’s subjects and descendants of Fofo, David Samouil Mordoh Behar and Carlos Mordoh Monforte, also participated in the discussion, speaking to their experience living with Mazaltov’s holocaust experiences.

What an insightful Q&A after a screening of Eva's Promise!

After a screening hosted by Brazina Documentary Film Series, Director/Producer Steve McCarthy and Producer Susan Kerner reflected on the making of this impactful film before a full house!

The film follows a 15-year-old Eva, who made a promise to her older brother Heinz on a train to Auschwitz. If he did not survive the camps, she promised to retrieve the paintings and poetry Heinz hid from the N**is. This film introduces Heinz, his artistry, and his sister’s efforts to find and share his remarkable legacy.

We had a successful SOLD-OUT screening of Beyond October 7th hosted by the WIZO California!

Director Jasmine Kainy explained that the film is, at its core, the story of a family and their survival during the war. She emphasized that, as a filmmaker rather than a journalist, her goal was not to provide a perfectly balanced or objective account but to share a deeply personal and intimate portrayal of their experiences.

The film marked the anniversary of a pivotal moment in history, highlighting both the hardships and resilience of a family who lived through it.
