Whether or not you work with us, ask any agency you're considering these five questions. The answers tell you almost everything.

1. Who holds and disburses the escrow, and is it independent of the agency?
2. How are surrogates screened, and by whom?
3. What happens if a match doesn't work out?
4. Who is our point of contact, and what happens when they're unavailable?
5. Can you explain, in plain language, exactly what your fee covers?

A good agency answers all five without hesitating. If any answer is vague, the vagueness is the answer.

"How long does this actually take?"

It's one of the first questions we hear, and it deserves a real answer.

Most surrogacy journeys run 12 to 18 months from the time applications are submitted to the day your baby arrives. That window covers screening, matching, legal contracts, the medical process, and pregnancy.

Your timeline can move faster or slower depending on your matching preferences, medical clearances, and where you are in the process when you start. Every family's path looks a little different, and that's normal.
