Attention all Licensed Timber Operators (LTO's) and Tree Contractors who require LBF (Loggers Broad Form Insurance) As many of you are aware, Cal Fire requires Certificates. A more recent letter has been received, dated 05/24/2025 regarding their, in my opinion, tightening up on the "types" of insurance, the "time" they require in advance (30 days) and sub-contractor requirements. History, some subs and primes hasve been using a claims-made policy form and this will no longer be accepted. They will now required the actual "endorsement page" from the "policy" and not just accept the Certificate. In my opinion this is good news as "some" brokers have been issuing Certs not displaying the drop-down limits. This means, for those carrying a sub limit of 25k or 50k, your insurance is NOT going to meet the standards. How does this affect you? You may find that you will not have a license. You may not be called upon or approved for contracts. You may get a stop notice to get off a job... For those wishing to received a copy of the letter please write to [email protected].
