Summer is definitely here! As a homeowner there are a couple of easy things to do that help prevent break downs on these hottest days of the year!

1. The easiest of all……
Change your furnace filter! Many feel as though “ I just changed it last month” but when checked it looks like it’s holding 2 dogs and three cats fur hostage! We all ( myself included) sometimes forget the last change so take a minute to check visually. Hold it up to light and if you can’t see through it clearly, put a new one in! Also when putting that new filter in, write the date on it! That is the only way to be sure of the last change.
Next be sure that the arrow on the filter is pointed towards the furnace!
Last be careful of buying the expensive, allergy free, air cleaning, dust reducing whatever else they say! Use a cheaper option and change it more often . Check the MERV rating of the the filter. Anything over MERV 10 you must be cautious. These can be very restrictive and cause reduced air flow as well as put pressure on your blower motor which can reduce the life of the motor. Reduced air flow can cause inefficient cooling and in time cause the system to freeze. Think less expensive and change more often. This can cut down on energy cost as well as extend the life of your system.
2. Gently rise the outdoor unit with your hose. Sometimes it is very evident that it’s dirty as it looks to have a fur coat! Sometimes it may look clean but still have build up in between the fins of the condenser coils.
Do not use high pressure but gently rinse top to bottom until you can see water coming through the coil into the compressor compartment of the unit. From leaves to grass to dust to cottonwood dropping can clog the airflow while raising the pressure and not only raise utility bills but also shorten the life or lead to leaks due to high head pressure. It’s ok to spend 5 minutes every couple weeks with a hose in one hand and a cold root b**r in the other, helping one of your largest home investments run smoother.
3. Raise the temperature during the day if no one is home. Raising a simple 3 degrees a take pressure of the system while saving a few dollars on the electric bill! Another option is a programable thermostat. This gives us the option for the thermostat to automatically rise while we are away and cool back down in time to get home from work.

These are 3 very easy ways that you can extend the life of your HAVC as well as lower electric bills this summer. If you have any questions or would like us to come out to check on installing a new programable thermostat just give us a call!
Thank you to all of our amazing customers and let us know if we can help in any way!

Good morning all, I am posting to clarify some questions I have been asked and rightfully so. We have moved from our building on 7th and Metcalf but YES we are still in town! Over the past few years we have been in growth mode and early 2025 I noticed a few things about us that were not what High Efficiency was built on. I will admit that I was behind the growth yet that was taking away the personal aspect I’ve had with so many of my customers over the last 8 years and I want to get back to that! We will only be doing a few new construction homes per year and concentrate on the service and replacement part of the business. I personally am doing the training for our newer guys and there is a good chance I will be along side when they come to your house. We have a good group of young Techs and I am so excited for the years ahead. Feel free to call if you have any questions or suggestions and there is a good chance I’ll be the one who answers the phone and would love to hear from you!
As always, we thank you for your business and let us know if you need a tech or even if you just have an HVAC question that I might be able to help with.

See ya soon neighbors,
Matt
