Covid 19 took my uncle. I have come to a decision (I haven't made lightly) to SOFT CLOSE during Covid.
So I'm just going to be real for a scond. This s**t ain't a joke.
Opening back up when people aren't regularly testing is asking for a huge spike and I know a lot of people weren't too hygienic before all this. Idiots with a sense of safety is endangerment to the wise and cautious.
So (being real) there is no way to guarantee my safety during this. Gloves and masks are bare minimums but not guarantees. Roll the dice enough times and you will get snake eyes. It's not the clients. It's the clerks and stores, other customers.. Going out and watching people has been equally hilarious and horrifying.
People do really dumb s**t but a lot more are about to die because opening is irresponsible and the people we rely on are in work spaces with other humans and hardly an operational standard has been altered.
"We locked up the doors and bought hand sanitizer."
That's great but none of you have a mask, changed gloves after handling money, or maintain 6ft from your co-workers.
And sanitizer isn't soap.
From a business sense, I can't afford this. Everyone and their mom is begging me to come drive for them. I would make more because they offer free delivery now and (safety concerns aside) I cannot compete. If there was an amount of money that made all this okay for me, I'm not making enough to pay one bill. Know what I mean? I am not a capitalist. I live in a country of aggressive capitalism. I started this as a creative response as someone responsible for bills.
Money means little to me and is usually the source of my frustration. Real talk, capitalism is murder. Look outside and see who you can't talk to anymore because healthcare costs a King's ransom.
Besides the facts I am grieving and what I stated above, I am not dying over cheese burgers and ci******es right now to make a little cash. MY BIGGEST FEAR IN ALL THIS IS I WILL UNKNOWINGLY PASS YOU A BAG OF COVID AND HAVE A HAND IN YOUR DEATH.
I appreciate every one of you, especially my regulars. I have missed our "normalcy" during all this. I care about you and want to see you healthy on the other side. Thank you for your understanding and caring about me too.
There are knuckleheads out there driving for corporations right now. They wanna die for 3 bucks a run and that's their prerogative. Be mindful, some folk take just any run. They aren't charging many fees right now so I recommend them for the time being.
If there's ever a tomorrow that resembles the yesterdays we long for, I will return!
