Northern Kentucky was a whole vibe

I had an amazing time teaching the CCC Network DCBS, social workers, parents, educators, and family resource leaders the power of Ask. Listen. Empower.

We practiced active listening, asking direct and effective questions, and using words that truly empower. The highlight? 🔥 Everyone turned their takeaways into a rap or spoken word creativity, courage, and community all in one space.

Grateful for rooms that are willing to learn, unlearn, and show up authentically. Thank you so much for believing in me.

Baaaaby, the room was ON FIRE!🔥🔥🔥

Miss Yvonne Jones had me pulled up with a Growth Mindset workshop and I left folks SHOOK (in the best way)! The vibes? ✨ Immaculate. The energy? 🎤 Loud. The engagement? 💯 Off the charts!

We laughed, we learned, we got real — and I STILL could’ve kept going after 90 minutes. One person even walked by and said, “What is going ON in there?! I wanna be part of that!” 😂

And listen… I’ve got a little inside joke:

BUT lately? Y’all been showing love, and I’m so grateful 🙏🏽

I don’t have a PhD, a TED Talk (yet 👀), or a book on a shelf — but what I do have is lived experience, passion, and a gift for making folks feel SEEN.

From youth to CEOs, I’ve worked with them all. And one thing I know for sure?
✨ When you create a safe, fun space to learn — magic happens.

🔥 Victory Over Violence is more than a slogan — it's a movement. It means rising above the cycles that were never meant for us, reclaiming our voices, and choosing healing, connection, and truth-telling every single time.

I had the absolute honor of facilitating a jam-packed workshop for over 50 Family Resource Coordinators from all across Kentucky. The room was overflowing with heart, wisdom, and the hunger to learn how to lead real community conversations.

These are the people who stand on the front lines for our families — and they showed up ready. Ready to listen, ready to build, and ready to lead.

Thank you to Senator Morgan McGarvey for holding space for providers, nonprofits, and parent advocates to discuss the future of Medicaid. A special thank you to Dr. Ana’Neicia Williams for always seeing me, valuing my voice, and connecting the right people to the right rooms. When she calls, I cancel everything—because she is the definition of Trusting Black Women.

Sharing my story as a member of SisterSong KY moved people in that room, including Senator McGarvey. That’s the power of storytelling—it’s how we shift policy and demand change.

But did you know we are in jeopardy of losing over $880 billion in Medicaid funding nationally?

What does that mean for Kentuckians?
❌ More uninsured families and children
❌ Reduced access to reproductive and maternal healthcare
❌ Fewer resources for people with disabilities
❌ Increased financial strain on hospitals and clinics
❌ Higher medical debt and worse health outcomes for low-income communities

We must act now to protect Medicaid and ensure every Kentuckian has access to the care they deserve. Stay informed, speak up, and demand action!
