Sharing a personal accomplishment: seven weeks ago, I decided to start eating healthy and working out to prepare for a Spartan race, despite not even knowing what a Spartan race was. For those who know me, I don’t do anything half-heartedly.
I committed to working out almost every day and cooking my meals. Over these seven weeks, I lost 21 pounds. Last weekend, I participated in a 10K (6 miles) Spartan Race with over 25 extreme obstacles. My legs were cramping, and I felt pain at the end, but I finished with a little help from two teammates.
Throughout those seven weeks, I often questioned why I was doing this. I didn’t see immediate changes and wondered if my efforts were enough. However, looking back, I am incredibly proud of myself for pushing through.
It took late-night runs by myself, workouts when I didn’t feel like it, cooking fresh food I had never prepared before, and holding myself accountable. The results are evident: my clothes fit better, my mind feels clearer, and I feel healthier. Most importantly, I have a strong sense of accomplishment because I didn’t know if I could do it.
I’m sharing this not for bragging rights, but to remind everyone that we all have tough days when we doubt ourselves and our efforts. The key is to focus on your own journey and not worry about what others think. I did this for myself, and you can too.
Don’t wait—choose something challenging and commit to it a little bit every day. You can do it; I believe in you.
