Trey has served as an Usher with the St. Martha Catholic Church for many years, greeting guests and passing the collection plates. Both of his sisters attended St. Martha Catholic School, which shares a building with the church. When it came time to find a job, Edge Employment assisted Trey to start his search within his own community.

At the start of this school year, Trey started an internship in the cafeteria at St. Martha Catholic School as a Café Assistant 2 days per week! His supervisor and mentor, Garrett, is training Trey on all the essentials, from serving food to maintaining the kitchen.

We are so proud of Trey and this major step towards finding his forever career!

The Kentucky Employment First Council, Innovative Supports for Autistic Workers (ISAW), and the Training Innovation Project (TIP) share Episode 10 of the 2026 Autism Informed Employer quick-hit video series. This is a monthly 2-minute video series along with quarterly topical conversations.

Episode 10: Executive Functioning in Autism
Autistic workers sometimes need supports for executive functioning skills. In this episode we discuss the range of skills and abilities that fall under the executive functioning umbrella and how these are affected by autism.

On December 17th we will host our final quarterly Autism Informed Employer conversation of 2026. We will cover topics related to executive functioning and accommodation tips with autistic workers. Employers, Employment Specialists, and others are invited to join for further information and a robust discussion. We hope you will join us in our efforts to remove obstacles to employment for this group of people who are eager to work, yet most often unemployed or underemployed.

The Louisville Metro Commission for Persons with Disabilities is hosting a FREE screening of Crip Camp: A Disability Revolution!

The documentary chronicles the story of Camp Jened - where teenagers with disabilities found a sense of community and empowerment - leading them to become activists and ultimate contributors to the disability rights movement in the United States.

Jackelyn Peake joined Mattingly Edge’s board last year and cares about making the community a better place for everyone!

Jackelyn works in communications at Kosair for Kids and is pursuing a graduate degree in Organizational Communication at Murray State.

Outside of the office, Jackelyn enjoys traveling with her husband, taking workout classes, and trying new restaurants around Louisville! ✈️💪🍽️

Now that National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) is in full swing, we wanted to get back to highlighting the awesome job candidates we get to represent!

Noticed our cool new nametags recently? They were made by Unified Sign and Designwhere Jean (pictured) works!

Jean is always up for learning new responsibilities to help out her team. When our special order came through, Jean learned how to apply the magnetic backing to our nametags so her team could stay focused on their bigger projects.

This is the benefit of Customized Employment - creating new positions based on business needs - backups and bottlenecks, work better performed by others, tasks that never leave the to-do list, and/or tasks of added value. When you open your mind to the possibilities, new opportunities emerge!

Gabby is in her 30’s, one of five siblings, and loves dogs and pop culture. She’s moving into her own house in the Schnitzelburg neighborhood THIS MONTH!

Gabby is also a wheelchair user and is seeking a female roommate to live in her upstairs suite. She has a cat allergy, but good dogs are welcome! She is also willing to negotiate lower rent in exchange for some support needs.
