Good morning, WO Network!

I’m so excited to serve as your VP of Marketing! You’ll find me posting events, all things tech and website, helping with strategy, mingling at events, and here in the Facebook group. We’re incredibly proud of what Holly Hartman has built, and we’re excited about what the next year holds for the WO Network!

I joined the WO Network because I immediately saw something special in the community Holly and Izzy created. I love having a place where women can come together to learn, collaborate, support one another, and grow.

A little about me: I grew up in South Dakota, about 40 minutes from Mount Rushmore, and moved to the Kentuckiana area in 2013. Shortly after moving here, I began working for Julie Lyles at her chiropractic clinic. When the bridge construction began, I took a position with a friend’s family roofing company, which is where my marketing career started.Later, my then-boyfriend, now husband, invited me to join his family’s company. After his father passed away, he became part owner of WindowDecor alongside his mom and brother. Not long after that, I started my own agency and discovered how much I love helping local businesses succeed.

Today, my husband and I own three businesses and are raising three young boys. As a family, we love spending time outside, trying new restaurants and coffee shops, and traveling whenever we can.

I own and operate a local digital marketing agency and software company, and I’ve had the absolute pleasure of serving many of our WO Network members. We help businesses simplify their tech stacks, and we also offer done-for-you services such as website creation, automations, lead generation, and SEO.
You’ll probably hear me talk about reputation management quite a bit, too. I love helping business owners understand just how powerful customer reviews can be!

The day begins at noon with a panel featuring our own Holly Hartman. From 1:00 to 5:00 p.m., there will be activities connected to the Give for Good challenges. Then, at 5:00 p.m., the telethon begins, emceed by Holly!

Meet Abigail Tomlin, VP of Operations for The WO Network. We're handing the mic to each member of the new Executive Board so you can hear from them directly. Here's Abigail:

The first WO event I went to was a Poppy Member Mixer. I jumped right in, and I have never looked back. I didn't expect it to turn into a board seat, but here we are.

My work, through Abigail Tomlin LLC, is business operations support for women who are building something meaningful, which mostly means I'm the person who figures out the systems so someone else can stay focused on the vision. I also work at The Vista at Origin Park in Clarksville, and before that I spent years in theatre calling cues and running tech weeks, which is where I got comfortable with a lot of moving pieces and a hard deadline.

What that translates to in this role is pretty practical. I'm responsible for the parts of WO Network that most of you will never see directly, like member onboarding, the tools and platforms we run on, and keeping this board organized and accountable to the work. When you join and get a warm welcome instead of silence, or when a process just works, that's the goal.

I want to say one thing about the transition. Holly and Izzy built something that reached more than 4,200 women, and stepping into a structure they created carefully is not a small thing to me. I'm not looking to reinvent it, just to build the infrastructure that lets it keep growing.

Meet the women leading WO Network into its next chapter.

Yesterday, we shared an important transition for The WO Network.

Today, we're looking forward.

Over the past year, we've been intentionally building the structure and leadership needed for WO Network to continue growing as The WO Network of Kentuckiana nonprofit.

And we're incredibly proud to introduce our new Executive Board:

These aren't simply names on a board.

They are women who have been part of this community, believe deeply in its mission and are ready to bring their talents, ideas and leadership to what comes next.

And you don't have to wait long to meet them.

Four years ago, I had no idea we were planting a field of poppies.

In September 2022, Izzy and I met at Startup Week and realized we were seeing the same need: women needed a safe space to connect, grow, collaborate and lead.

We thought we might create a mastermind.

Instead, we started a movement.

There was no big organization behind us. No large budget. No roadmap. Just two women bootstrapping a grassroots community with a whole lot of sweat equity, integrity and grit.

And then YOU showed up.

You believed in the mission. You invited other women in. You built friendships, businesses, collaborations and partnerships. You stepped into leadership.

I've watched women walk into WO events knowing no one and leave with connections that changed the trajectory of their businesses and lives.

What started as an idea between two women became a community of more than 4,200 women.

A whole field of poppies.

And somewhere along the way, the community I helped create as a place for women to belong became a place where I belonged, too.

About a year ago, we realized something important:

If we truly believed in what we had built, WO Network couldn't depend on its founders to survive.

So we began doing the work to transition WO from the business partnership it began as into The WO Network of Kentuckiana nonprofit.

We built infrastructure. We cultivated new leaders. And we created a board of women who don't simply occupy seats. They believe deeply in this mission and are ready to carry it forward.

And now, it's my turn to make room for them to lead.

August 31 marks my final day as President of The WO Network.

There is grief in writing that.

You don't pour four years of yourself into something without feeling the weight of stepping away.

But there is also enormous pride.

Because the goal was never to create something that needed me forever.

The goal was to build something strong enough to continue without me at the center of it.

And we did.

So it's time to pass the torch.

Or maybe, in our case...

It's time to pass the poppy.

I'm not disappearing. I'll remain a Co-Founder and will be available to the board as an advisor when needed. I'll still be connecting women, cheering this community on and probably showing up in many of the same rooms.

But my own next chapter is calling, too.

My work with Future Workforce Systems is expanding. My work in AI, leadership, workforce readiness, speaking and education is growing. And I'm deeply involved in a major Bingham Fellows AI project launching here in Louisville this November.

I'm not going too far.

I'm simply making room.

Making room for these women to lead.

Making room for WO to evolve.

And making room for my own next season of leadership.

Maybe that's one of the greatest lessons these four years have taught me:

Sometimes leadership means stepping forward.

Sometimes it means building the thing no one else can see yet.

Sometimes it means staying when things get hard.

And sometimes leadership means recognizing that what you've built is ready to be carried by someone else.

My ask is simple:

Give this next generation of WO leadership what you gave me.

Your trust. Your ideas. Your participation. Your encouragement. Your willingness to show up for one another.

Keep connecting. Keep growing. Keep collaborating. Keep leading.

Keep making room at the table.

Keep celebrating women who rise.

And please...

keep growing those poppies.

Four years ago, I had no idea how big this field would become.

Thank you for believing in an idea.

Thank you for helping us build it.

And thank you for giving me a place to grow alongside you.

This isn't goodbye.

I'm just passing the poppy.

Louisville Feud is coming to Noble Funk Brewing Co. and WO Network has a team in it!

Think Family Feud, but every question comes straight from real Louisville folks. 32 local teams go head to head bracket style for bragging rights, and we want a crowd behind our team.

This is a fundraiser for I Would Rather Be Reading, a local nonprofit providing literacy tutoring and after school enrichment for Louisville kids. Every dollar raised helps keep tutoring, mentorship, and enrichment programs available for kids who need them most.

Our team goal is $750 and we're already halfway there. Come cheer us on, grab a drink, and help us close the gap.
