ABQ BioPark had done an incredible job recycling gadgets!

the ABQ BioPark has been a participating location in ECO-CELL 's Gorillas on the Line recycling program since 2022!

Recycling cell phones and other electronics helps to reduce the impact of coltan mining in sensitive gorilla habitat, as well as raising money for gorilla conservation. Mining for coltan and other minerals for electronics affects countless other species, too.

This is your sign to gather your old cell phones, tablets, mp3 players, or GPS units and drop them off before the end of August. Collection boxes are located in the Aquarium & Botanic Garden plaza and inside the Zoo Administration office, they can be accessed during normal operating hours. Together, we can finish their 2026 recycling season strong!

Spring load of unwanted gadgets off to our R2V3 partner for recycling (deconstruction,smelting and parts harvesting). Thanks to all of our incredible partners for keeping this stuff out of the landfill and putting it to work for the conservation of species!
