When does it make sense to move from a sole proprietorship to an S Corp?

As your relief business grows, your entity structure may need to grow with it.

But an S Corp comes with additional requirements, including payroll and reasonable compensation, so getting it set up correctly matters.

Pricing medications isn’t just about adding a markup. The goal is to protect your margins while keeping pricing reasonable for your clients.

A tiered markup strategy may help you find that balance.

A tax deduction shouldn't be the reason you buy a car.

As a 1099 relief veterinarian, using your vehicle for business may open the door to certain vehicle deductions, including depreciation. But it isn't as simple as buying a car and “writing it off.”

Your business use, the deduction method you choose, the type of vehicle, and how well you document your business driving can all affect what you're able to deduct.

The better question isn't, “How much can I write off?”
It's, “Does this purchase make sense for my business, and how should I handle it for tax purposes?”

Make the business decision first. Then work with your tax professional to determine the right tax strategy.

And whatever you do, keep good records. The deduction only works if you can support it.
