Maybe you just need permission to go after your next big dream.
I was coaching a brilliant, hard-working friend last week who needed one thing that had been holding him back for years:
Permission.
And the crazy thing was no one - no friend, spouse, coworker, mentor, coach nor anyone else - could give it to him.
When the time was right in our conversation, I looked at him point blank and asked, “Whose permission are you really seeking for this?”
He took a deep breath, looked down, and when his shoulders dropped in relief at his own answer he said quietly, “Mine… Just my own, man.”
And that’s all it took. Now it took me an hour to get him to that point 😆, but afterward everything is different.
He’s already making changes.
Different decisions, different people, different attitude, different calendar, much less work and much more energy seeping out of every pore.
All because he just needed to get quiet in his mind, have someone ask a few insightful questions, and finally give himself permission to go be who he knows deep down in his heart he has been all along.
Business is hard enough without having someone in your corner. I recommend finding friends, coaches, and mentors who care about you so much that they will ask the question you really need to hear.
