What are your financing options when buying a franchise? Short answer: more than you'd think!

Cash, SBA loans, HELOCs, 401(k)/IRA rollovers, bringing on a business partner, family funds… there's a real range of paths, and the right one depends on your unique financial picture.

Here's the thing though: don't wait until you've found "the one" to think about funding. Look at your options early and set your budget based on what you're actually fundable for. Think of it like buying a home - you get pre-approved before you go house hunting, not after you fall in love with a listing! 🏡

Here's one way to make a living + Make a real difference!

There will always be demand for kid-focused franchises, because families are always looking for ways for their kids to stay active, engaged, and learning outside the home.

Since most parents place high value on enriching their children's lives, there is a steady source of demand for services designed to do exactly that. The U.S. is also home to over 72 million children today, and that number keeps growing!

Owning a child-focused franchise is immensely rewarding, profitable, and keeps you young at heart. Along with the financial benefits, franchisees often treasure the lifelong relationships built with families who return again and again.

Here's how to know if a franchise business is the right path for you...

The first step is to reflect on your goals, working style, and long-term vision. Ask yourself the following questions:

🗺️ Do you prefer structure or flexibility?
Franchising offers a structured business model, which is ideal for people who appreciate clear guidelines. But a structured model might feel limiting to people who crave total creative freedom or frequent change.

⚙️ Are you comfortable following a system?
Success in franchising depends on your ability to stick to a proven system. If you’re more inclined to invent your own processes...this model may feel restrictive.

💲 Can you invest time and capital for the long haul?
Just like any new business, franchise ownership requires both financial commitment and daily operational involvement. It’s not a passive investment, especially in the early years.

🎯 Are you prepared to be both a leader and a team player within a brand?
Franchisees often have to wear multiple hats. They lead their local teams while also collaborating with the franchisor and adhering to brand-wide standards. Balancing autonomy with accountability is key.

Some franchisors don't share their numbers. That should tell you something!

Item 19 of the FDD is where a franchisor can disclose real financial performance data on their existing units…and it's optional. When it's missing, it's usually because the numbers wouldn't help the sale. Without that data, you're left guessing at what your investment could actually return (and nobody wants to take THAT risk!)

This is exactly why the vetting we do at FranNet matters so much. Before a brand is ever shown to a client, we've already looked closely at its track record, growth trajectory, and overall strength as a business. My clients aren't starting from scratch. Instead, they're only looking at brands that have already proven they're worth consideration.

It's a lot of digging on our end, so our clients don't have to guess on theirs.

"So what do franchise consultants actually do?"
Here's the short version:
We help people figure out if franchise ownership is right for them, and if so, which brand actually fits.

Meet Rich and Jill! They didn't come to FranNet looking for just any opportunity - they came ready to be selective.

Jill spent 18 years in franchising and brings an accountant's sharp eye for the numbers. Rich owned a business for over a decade, with experience across both the trades and corporate management. That foundation gave them something valuable: the ability to know exactly what "right" looked like for their lifestyle, interests, and goals.

The timing was right, too. With their combined expertise, Rich and Jill were in a position to optimize their next move rather than settle for it, and to finally take control of their career direction and income. That search led them to Handyman Connection, where they found a family-oriented culture, genuine no-pressure support throughout discovery, and a collaborative, proven system built for stability all year round.

Congratulations to you both - excited to see what's next!

"Is franchising risky?" is a question that sometimes comes up in a first conversation with someone exploring business ownership.

The honest answer: no business is risk-free. But franchising reduces the risk you're taking on, compared to starting a business from scratch - a tested model instead of a guess, real training and support, and a brand name people already trust before you even open your doors. Research backs it up too: franchises show a real survival edge in those first, most vulnerable years.

If you've ever hesitated on franchising because it felt like "not really having your own business" - this one's for you.

At the end of the day, buying a franchise IS owning your own business. The difference is you're not starting with a blank page.

The brand, the systems, the training, the support…someone already did that heavy lifting so you don't have to start from zero. You skip the trial and error and get straight to running things.

Saving money is smart - but savings alone rarely builds financial momentum.

That’s why more people are rethinking their investment strategies by seeking assets they can actively have an impact on, not just watch from the sidelines.

For many professionals, franchising stands out as a dynamic wealth-building strategy:
- A proven business model
- Real operational leverage
- And the chance to drive performance through your decisions and actions - not just through watching and waiting.

There’s still a place for traditional investments, of course…but franchising adds one that puts you in control of the outcome.
