Today, we pause to commemorate Juneteenth, a historic milestone that celebrates freedom and marks the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in the United States. It is a day to reflect on our shared history, honor resilience, and recognize the importance of unity and progress.

In observance of Juneteenth, our administrative offices will be closed today. As always, emergency services will remain fully staffed and ready to respond whenever needed.

At Fern Creek Fire & EMS, we are honored to serve every member of our community with compassion, professionalism, and respect. As we recognize this important day, we remain committed to supporting and protecting all those we serve.

We wish everyone a safe, meaningful, and reflective Juneteenth.

🧘‍♂️ A Special Thank You 🧘‍♂️

Fern Creek Fire & EMS would like to extend our sincere gratitude to Chief Jody Craig of the Shepherdsville Fire Department for taking time out of his busy schedule to visit our recruit class and teach the benefits of yoga and wellness in the fire service.

The physical and mental demands of our profession make it essential to prioritize flexibility, mobility, recovery, and overall well-being. Chief Craig's knowledge, experience, and passion for firefighter health provided our recruits with valuable tools they can carry throughout their careers.

Thank you, Chief Craig, for investing in the next generation of firefighters and for your continued dedication to the fire service.

Teach Kids When and How to Call 911.

Knowing how to call 911 is an important life skill for children. While we hope they never need to use it, being prepared can make a big difference during an emergency.

Talk with your children about:

☎️ When to call 911.
* Someone is seriously hurt or unconscious
* There is a fire
* Someone is having trouble breathing
* They feel unsafe or need immediate help

🏠 Know important information.
* Their home address
* A parent or guardian’s full name
* A parent or guardian’s phone number

📱 How to call
* Stay calm
* Speak clearly
* Tell the dispatcher what happened
* The address
* Answer the dispatcher’s questions
* Never hang up until told to do

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Take a few minutes this week to practice with your children. A simple conversation today could help them stay calm and get help quickly in an emergency.

❤️ At Fern Creek Fire & EMS, we’re proud to help keep our community safe, one family at a time.

❤️ THANK YOU, BUECHEL, CAMP TAYLOR, FERN CREEK & HIGHVIEW COMMUNITIES! ❤️

The members of Fern Creek Fire & EMS would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the residents, businesses, and visitors of Buechel, Camp Taylor, Fern Creek, and Highview for your incredible generosity during this year's WHAS Crusade for Children.

Because of your unwavering support, $225,250 was raised to help children with identified health care, educational, and emotional wellness needs through programs and services that make a lasting difference in their lives throughout Kentucky and Southern Indiana.

This remarkable achievement is a testament to the compassion and generosity of the communities we are proud to serve. Whether you donated at a neighborhood collection, attended a fundraiser, volunteered your time, or simply helped spread the word, you played an important role in making this success possible.

On behalf of everyone at Fern Creek Fire & EMS, thank you for continuing to support the Crusade for Children and its mission of making life better for children by inspiring generosity through community partnerships. We are honored to serve communities that consistently step up to make a difference.

Together, Buechel, Camp Taylor, Fern Creek, and Highview have once again shown the power of community.

🚒❤️ Thank you for helping us raise $225,250 for Kentuckiana's children.

As the 2026 Crusade for Children comes to a close, we want to extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who made this year’s campaign such an incredible success.

To our dedicated members, thank you for your unwavering commitment, countless hours of work, and passion for serving others. Your efforts continue a proud tradition of supporting children and families in need throughout our community.

To those who returned to support the Crusade retired members, former personnel, family members, and friends thank you for standing beside us once again. Your willingness to give your time and energy demonstrates the lasting impact of the fire service family and the spirit of giving that defines our profession.

Most importantly, thank you to our community. Your generosity, kindness, and continued support make all of this possible. Every donation, no matter the size, represents hope and opportunity for children who rely on the programs and services funded by the Crusade for Children.

Together, we achieved an exceptional year of fundraising, and every dollar collected will help improve the lives of children right here in our community. The success of the Crusade is a testament to what can be accomplished when a community comes together for a common purpose.

On behalf of our department, thank you for helping make a difference in the lives of countless children and families. We are honored to serve such a caring and compassionate community.
