Electrical troubleshooting doesn’t always have to be complicated. Sometimes, it starts with one simple question: Is the wire continuous from one end to the other?

With the power off, a multimeter set to resistance or continuity can verify whether a wire has a clean path or a break somewhere along the line.

It’s a simple test, but it can save a lot of time when you’re identifying wires and tracking down an electrical issue. ⚡🔧

Once this trench gets backfilled, every mistake down here gets expensive.

Underground isn't the place for “good enough.”

Get your conduit where it needs to be, get your spacing right, check everything while you can still see it, and then check it again before the dirt goes back in.

Nobody wants to be the guy digging it back up later to fix any issues!

A little extra time now saves a whole lot of rework later.

Buried electrical caution tape is a simple layer of protection with a specific job.

It sits 12 inches above the conduit so the next person digging gets a warning before reaching energized infrastructure. Utility locates still matter, but visible warning tape creates another chance to stop before a costly or dangerous strike.

Good underground work considers the people who may open that trench years later.

PLC I/O getting landed and labeled. Heat-shrink labels on every conductor to make life a little easier when someone has to troubleshoot it later. The heat shrink labels in our opinion are the only way this should be done.

Customer didn’t want a gutter above the panel and wanted everything brought in through the sides.

Made for a lot of offsets, but it came together pretty clean.

Can anyone think of a different way you would’ve laid this one out?

Replacing an overloaded transformer feed starts with understanding what the existing conductors are being asked to carry.

In this project, the plan was to remove the aluminum conductors serving the problem transformer and pull in copper. The material change is only one part of the work. The shutdown, wire path, pull setup, and final connections all have to be coordinated around the homes that depend on that feed.

Big electrical upgrades are built on careful transitions, not quick swaps.
