Lubbock small business owners, this one’s for you! The Lifting up Lubbock, TX Small Business Grant is open, but the application closes 10/20!

25 local businesses will each be awarded a $5,000 grant to develop their business technology and support their growth and success.

✅ To apply, you must:
-Have a brick-and-mortar business location in a community served by Optimum
-Maintain a team of 25 or fewer employees
-Agree to a background check
-Participate in promotional materials for the grant program

Your application should also explain how the grant will help advance your company and contribute positively to the community you serve.

🌾🚜 That’s a wrap on LL50 class days!💙

Hard to believe our 50th Leadership Lubbock class has officially wrapped up its final class day and what better way to finish the year than learning about one of the industries that fuels our community: AGRICULTURE!🌱🐄🍇

🌅 Dan Taylor Farms: We kicked off the morning with a delicious chuckwagon breakfast provided by the Taylors while learning all about cotton farming and hearing from Tom Sell for Congress and Plains Cotton Growers, Inc. CEO, Kody Bessent. Nothing like a little agriculture education with a side of cowboy cooking!

🚜 Buster’s Gin: Next, we saw firsthand what happens to cotton after it’s picked and learned more about the process that turns those fluffy white fields into products we use every day.

🍽️ Lubbock Chamber of Commerce Harvest Luncheon: We joined fellow community leaders for a great luncheon celebrating the importance of agriculture to our region.

🧵 FiberMax Center for Discovery: We explored the museum and learned more about the history and innovation behind the agricultural industry. If you haven’t visited this place, add it to your list! It’s such a cool spot to take your family!

🥩 Raider Red Meats: We got an inside look at the meat processing side of agriculture and learned more about another important piece of the industry.

🍷 English Newsom Cellars: We finished the day with an awesome tour, learning about grape growing and the w**e industry, followed by a little w**e tasting!🥂

From cotton fields to cattle, grapes to great conversations, this day was the perfect reminder of just how much goes into the industry that feeds, clothes, and supports our community. We are so grateful for the people who welcomed LL50, shared their knowledge, and gave us a behind-the-scenes look at their work!
