Since I’m doing some “lvp” “vinyl” “click lock”, let’s talk about it. There’s more to it than just laying down planks you’re supposed to start from a point that square in the room. Did you know you’re supposed to have at minimum a quarter inch expansion gap completely around the room? Vinyl expands and contracts up to a quarter inch in different climates, with no gap your flooring will buckle. Did you know they also call these floating floors, which means in no way shape or form are you supposed to glue, screw, or nail them down or build anything on top of them, same thing happens, they buckle or pull apart. I bet you didn’t know that your supposed to sit them in the room there going to be installed in for 48 hours to acclimate. The big box store is like Home Depot Menards Lowe’s will bring your flooring and install on the same day but manufactures instructions say different. You pay them up to 6 to 7 dollars a square foot to install your flooring and they don’t even follow directions. Did you know in places where there’s moisture even with padding underneath you’re supposed to add a moisture barrier because the planks are moisture resistant, not waterproof. Did you know you’re not supposed to lay your flooring starting in an H pattern or stairstep? Did you know you’re supposed to have a 6 to 8 inch minimum from seem to seem. Am I saying that I’m the best flooring installer in the world no but I am saying that if you’re paying me to do your floor that you paid a lot of money for I’m gonna make sure I know all the manufacturers instructions and that it’s done Right, so you have a floor that last.
