One Rule I Live by –

One of the most important rules in my business life has helped me tremendously – both in business and in my personal journeys – and I invite you to consider it as well.

What is the rule? It's simply this – Always give more than you take. Add value to others' lives.

It’s important to me that you know that ADDED VALUE is one of my personal values, and you’ll find it here at Primer & Scout!

This plays out in various ways in my daily work, and it stems both from my Christian faith and from my years of customer service work.

Recently, I’ve heard September referred to as “The Monday of Months.” Intriguing!

The idea being that the summer weeks of August are meant for relaxation (like Sundays), but with September comes opportunities to start afresh rather than winding down the year.

We are wrapping up our END-OF-SUMMER BUCKET LIST…SMALL BUSINESS EDITION series today!

Here are some ideas for being INTENTIONAL this weekend!

✅ Visit a farmer’s market. Pick out fruits and veggies to match
each color of the rainbow. (Remember ol’ ROY G. BIV?)
Create an eclectic dinner out of the bounty!

✔ While at the market, pick up some fresh flowers or
a handmade gift for a loved one to drop off on
your way home!

✅ Hit the road for an old-fashioned “Sunday Drive.” Consider
setting out in a direction and letting the road take you on
an unplanned adventure. You might find your new favorite
destination!

✔ Pack a picnic lunch, complete with a basket, thermos,
and blanket. Let the kids experience a simpler way of life,
free from drive-throughs!

✔ Ask your family and friends to each contribute at least
one song to your Sunday Drive playlist and offer to do
the same for them.

❇🙋‍♀️ A virtual assistant can free up your week so a Saturday

giving drops off over the summer, though the needs of the
community do not! Activities like raising funds, supplying
food or toiletry donations, volunteering on clean-up or
building projects, and sponsoring kids’ camps or school
backpacks, build teamwork and a spirit of gratitude.

✅ Put out feelers to your local non-profits who may need a
new board member soon! What are other creative ways you
and your company can give back to your community?

We’re talking all about an END-OF-SUMMER BUCKET LIST…SMALL BUSINESS EDITION this week!

Here are two more INTENTIONAL ideas for home and family!

✅ Take a nap…unwind outside in the fresh air! Find a
hammock, a picnic blanket, or a lounge chair. Extra points
if you’re on the beach, near a lake, or in the mountains!
Fresh thoughts and creativity come when you’re rested!

✔ If a nap outdoors isn’t enough for your adventurous spirit,
why not camp under the stars?

✅ Take a nature walk! Gather your loved ones together for a
hike, and then enjoy being outside and together. Take time
to notice the sounds, scents, and views.

✔ Plan your walk to coincide with watching a sunrise or
sunset during your hike. Don’t pack the camera, however.
Simply take time to memorize that moment!

❇🙋‍♀️ A virtual assistant can lend a hand with your work and
structure your schedule so you can take some time away
from the office/workshop. Your productivity will increase
after each getaway!

Thus begins WEEK 2 of the SUMMER BUCKET LIST…SMALL BUSINESS EDITION with two ideas for home and family:

✅ Learn a new language! Learn how to say, “I love you” and
“Thank you!” in at least one new language…or maybe more
if you’re the ambitious type!

✅ Pretend you’re a kid again! Run through the sprinkler, skip
stones on the lake, turn a cartwheel, or land a cannonball!
This is definitely best done in the company of loved ones
who will join in the fun and laugh with you!

❇🙋‍♀️ As business owners, we need to take a break from the
daily grind and spend time on what really matters. A
virtual assistant can free you up to spend more time at
home with your loved ones enjoying the best summer
has to offer!
