This Memorial Day, we take a moment to honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice will never be forgotten, and their legacy continues to inspire generations.

Middle Tennessee is expected to see multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms through Memorial Day weekend, with widespread rainfall totals of 2–3 inches possible across the region.

While widespread severe weather is not currently expected, periods of heavy rain could lead to localized flooding and ponding on roadways.

Now is a good time to:

• Monitor trusted weather sources
• Use caution during travel
• Never drive through flooded roadways
• Stay alert for changing conditions

As we reflect on last week’s Conference, one thing stands out above all else: the people.

More than 600 emergency management professionals, partners, speakers, and guests came together with a shared commitment to serving Tennessee communities before, during, and after disasters. Throughout the week, we saw collaboration, innovation, leadership, and relationships in action.

Thank you to our EMAT members, presenters, industry partners, special guests, volunteers, and attendees who made this year’s conference such a meaningful and memorable experience. The conversations, connections, and lessons shared throughout the week will continue making an impact long after the conference ended.

Finishing up with a tabletop exercise. It’s been such a great week of learning from one another, building relationships, and strengthening partnerships.

The fact that 614 emergency management professionals attended this year’s conference speaks volumes about the level of dedication across our state. That kind of commitment is what drives stronger coordination, better decisions, and ultimately better outcomes for the communities we serve.

Day 2 at brought a full day of practical training and real-world insight.

We started with a strong keynote from Dr. Martha Rader on leading with stability under pressure and the role of emotional intelligence in crisis.

Breakout sessions covered everything from rapid statewide coordination and survivor-focused recovery to crisis communications, community resilience, public health and AI, and Incident Management Team operations. Attendees also heard updates from the National Weather Service and lessons learned from recent severe weather and disaster responses.

We also took time to recognize outstanding work across the field during the awards luncheon, with winners to be shared soon!
