I recently had Nicholas Goodman out to clean our gutters and check on the moss situation.

He was making a huge mess—the deck was covered in debris, and the lawn had leaves and branches—but by the time I came out, things were left cleaner than when he arrived!!

The gutters looked great. He also advised me about some roof concerns that we later addressed.

Lately, I've been sharing a statistic from the Science Foundation about our thought patterns.

​The statistics say that 80% of our thoughts are negative, and we have about 80,000 thoughts daily. ​​So that's 64,000 negative thoughts to 16,000 positive.

​Not an ideal ratio. ​

Negative thoughts will come. This is inevitable, but instead of feeling bad about these thoughts and judging them as negative, I've realized the way to combat them is not to judge them and to be curious instead.

​For example, when ​I tell myself that the action I took or comment I made was stupid, instead of judging it as negative, I ask myself, "What makes me think that action or comment was stupid?"

I love DISC and find it fascinating to discuss, work through report results with people, and coach with.

Most people don't know that DISC originated in Greece. In the fifth century BC, some Greek philosophers, including Empedocles (490-430 BC), hypothesized that all materials constituting the world would be composed of four elements: Fire, Air, Water, and Earth.

Of course, we've learned otherwise, but these elements are representations of behavioral types that have been adapted into DISC.

I did a presentation on the importance of taking control of your thoughts.

I started by sharing this scary statistic.

In coaching my clients, I've found so much guilt, shame, stress, and overwhelm in running their businesses.

Why wouldn't there be if this is the norm for our thinking patterns?

I'm on a mission to flip this to 80% positive and 20% negative (we all know how annoying those 100% positive people are).
