Yesterday, Lynnfield Fire was called to assist Wakefield Fire Department at a six-alarm fire on Foundry Street.

The extreme heat and humidity made an already challenging operation especially difficult for firefighters. Shown are Lynnfield Firefighters Moccia and Mansfield operating from the Saugus ladder.

Many of you may notice Saugus Ladder 1 responding to emergencies throughout Lynnfield or parked at our new headquarters over the coming weeks.

Lynnfield Fire Department’s Ladder 1 has been sent out for a comprehensive refurbishment to enhance safety, improve reliability, and bring the apparatus up to current operational standards. This investment will extend the service life of the truck while saving Lynnfield taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars compared to the cost of purchasing a new aerial ladder truck.

During the refurbishment, we are grateful to the Saugus Fire Department for generously providing a replacement ladder truck to ensure uninterrupted aerial response capabilities for our community.

Our firefighters have completed extensive training on the Saugus apparatus to become familiar with its features, capabilities, and operational differences.

We sincerely thank the Saugus Fire Department for their partnership, professionalism, and support during this project. Their assistance is another outstanding example of the strong mutual aid relationships that help keep all of our communities safe.

4-Alarm House Fire at 3 Melody Lane, Lynnfield.

On Thursday May 21st Emergency crews responded to a reported gas leak with smoke showing at 3 Melody Lane.
Upon arrival, crews reported a two-story wood-frame structure, with nothing visible from the exterior. E2 Deputy Chief Mutti subsequently confirmed a working basement fire, prompting an expanded response.
Interior crews reported that the fire had extended to the first floor and a second alarm was transmitted. Shortly after the second alarm was transmitted, interior crews reported that the floor of the first floor became unstable and all members were ordered out of the building for safety reasons.
Within 5 minutes of the evacuation tones being sounded a partial collapse of the first floor into the basement occurred.
Command transmitted a 3rd alarm following the structural collapse and later upgraded the incident to a 4th alarm to support ongoing firefighting operations, staffing needs, and community coverage assignments.
Mutual aid companies from North Reading, Middleton, Wakefield, Lynnfield, Saugus, Lynn, Salem, Stoneham, Beverly, Peabody, and other surrounding communities assisted during the operation.
Atlantic Ambulance responded to the scene, and one Lynnfield firefighter was transported by ALS to Lahey Burlington at approximately 3:20 p.m. That firefighter was later released from the hospital.
Atlantic and Armstrong ambulances provided on-scene support as well as town coverage during the incident.
Rehab Five provided on firefighter rehabilitation with multiple units on scene.
Lynnfield Engine 2 remained on location for an overnight fire watch.
The structural collapse into the basement created trapped areas of fire with difficult access.
The following day, firefighters were called back to the property for a rekindle of the original fire.
The structure was deemed structurally unsafe and was ordered demolished by the town Building Commissioner. The building was demolished on Saturday.

Today marks the beginning of a new era for Lynnfield Fire Department. We have now occupied the former fire headquarters at 59 Summer Street (now called Center Station). This is an extraordinary time for us as we are now staffing two fire stations 24/7. We are extremely grateful for the support of the townspeople, and we look forward to provide the best services we can.

Exciting news from the Lynnfield Fire Department!

As of 7:00 AM this morning, both the brand-new Fire Headquarters at 1100 Summer Street and the newly renovated Center Fire Station at 59 Summer Street are officially staffed and operational.

By operating out of both stations, we can provide faster and more effective emergency response throughout Lynnfield. This marks a historic moment. It's the first time in department history that both stations are staffed and operational overnight!

This milestone would not have been possible without the support of our town leaders and residents. Thanks to the public safety buildings project, our facilities are now safer, more efficient, and better equipped to serve our community.
