🚧✨ Code in Progress… But Make It Beautiful ✨🚧

I’ve officially leveled up from Christine of All Trades to Christine of All Codes 💻🔧

After diving into HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and SQL, I’ve just built my first website using a few layers of code! It's functional, it's simple, and it’s only the beginning. 😎

I didn't originally set out to become a "chicken lady"—but here I am!

When the pandemic hit, I was scared, confused, and craving some kind of control. So, before I quarantined, I made a panic-run to Tractor Supply Co. and came home with everything I needed to raise 6 chicks. Just 6.

That quickly turned into 13… then 18… and, well, at one point, I may have had over 100 chickens.

What started as a little homesteading dream turned into a full-blown lifestyle. I learned how to care for all kinds of breeds, heal injuries, cure sickness, and built my own incubators from scrap materials. I even became the go-to chicken (duck & goose) sitter for friends, and found unexpected peace in the daily rhythm of chicken chores.

In the middle of all the chaos, those birds gave me structure, purpose, and plenty of laughs. Ever try to catch a chicken? Looking back, it wasn’t just about the eggs—it was about finding life in the little things.

Would I do it again? Absolutely.
Would I maybe stop at 50 next time? …Maybe.

At the risk of sounding incredibly OLD here....there are just TOO many social media platforms to keep up with...WTF is "Threads" now??? Twitter is "X" now....how is "Threads" different than "X" and aren't they all owned by the same people?! Why do we need them all and how do we choose?

Here are 4 other social media granny's you should know! I found them when I fell into a research rabbit hole. My favorite social media granny is Allyn Hess Perry!

Many might believe that social media is only geared towards teens and young adults, and older audiences are not very welcome to share and post. However, there are a few grandmothers right now that are proving that belief wrong, and are ruling the social media world. Many of these older women are emb...

Finding myself in a rut lately as priorities from each of my worlds collide, twist, shapeshift and change. Messages from every forum are piling up because I cannot seem to find the right times or ways to give my undivided attention. I found a little perspective though in this article.

Any time you're feeling overwhelmed, you should consider "dropping the ball"! Here are 5 simple ways to regain control of your schedule and happiness.

I have been exploring the topic of heavily lately because I have been growing increasing tired of the cycle of "failure" I seem to have been stuck in for my entire life! I searched for an image to go along with the story that I am about to tell and when I found it, I saw my entire life played back like a reel in my mind. It was one of those gut-punching moments.

I was given a diagnosis of ADHD when I was young. I was also medicated with Methylphenidate which led to some devastating side effects, like rapid weight loss, hyperfocus on my fear of failure and then a journey to more medication...which led to a secret su***de attempt that I was never honest about until I was out of my teen years. This very experience has led to a fear of medications and a loss of trust for "quick prescribe" healthcare providers.

Since then, many years have passed and I have learned to love my ADHD. I have curated my tendencies into and lean into my moments of hyperfocus. Yesterday, I took a LinkedIn Learning course while organizing my office, because true to the diagnosis, I cannot sit still. When I do, I have a tendency to pick up my phone and those two tasks are not compatible for focusing on the course content, whereas organizing my space requires less of my brain, therefore, I can listen.

I found this article from Verywell written by Michelle C. Brooten-Brooks to be very helpful: https://www.verywellhealth.com/untreated-adhd-in-adults-5213475

Monday Challenge: Look for someone who is offering help, kindness, or compassion in the world.

Why?: What we see in the world, depends on what we are looking for. Sure, we can see scary things out there, but often there is beauty in the broken. Compassion emerges.

If you are struggling to find someone...become who you're looking for!
