When I talk to people who are on the verge of starting a business, it’s never JUST money that’s driving them.

It’s usually the freedom that comes with having their own business.

And the sense of purpose they get knowing their work matters.

That’s why deciding which business idea to run with is never JUST a numbers game.

(Numbers DO matter. I’m a numbers girlie. The math better be mathing.)

But if that’s the only thing you’re looking at, you’re setting yourself up to fail. And we don’t want that to happen.

You could be the best bookkeeper/photographer/social media manager in the world, but if nobody knows you’re open for business, they can’t hire you.

This is why having the CONFIDENCE to show up online matters.

When my clients avoid posting about their business, it’s usually because they’re afraid:

🙈their current or former coworkers will judge them (“Did you see what Emily is doing??”)
🙉family and friends will talk about them behind their backs (“She’s so cringe!”)
🙊if things don’t work out, they’ll look dumb for having tried (“She actually thought she could run a business?! Lol”)

Getting to a place where you no longer care what other people think is possible.

But it won’t happen automatically. You have to address the fears on purpose.

To be a successful business owner, people have to SEE YOU.

But if being seen makes you so ANXIOUS and UNCOMFORTABLE you can’t put yourself out there, you’ll always be stuck.

This is where coaching comes in.

I help my clients overcome their fear of posting and talking about their businesses so they can show up confidently.

“I don’t think you should hire me.”

I said that.

On a consultation call with a potential client.

Even though I KNEW I could help her.

I said it because she had just signed up to be in another coach’s group program.

A clear, calm mind makes better decisions than a confused, messy one. And I didn’t want to clutter her mind with my thoughts, advice, or approach.

(Even though my ideas are fire and I 100% believe in everything I teach.)

See, every business coach has a slightly different take on things. And that’s okay because there’s no ONE RIGHT WAY to build a freelance or service-based business.

Lots of ways work.

But you have to pick a lane and stay in it. You have to stick with a strategy long enough to see if it works.

If you flip flop around, you’re going to just… FLOP. (Ask me how I know lol)

If you’re bouncing from thing to thing without getting very far, I invite you to consider picking one strategy and sticking with it for at LEAST a few weeks.

That’s the only way to find out if it works for you.

I used to think everything had to be PERFECT before I could launch my business.

I couldn’t show up and market my services until I had:
🙃The perfect logo
🙃ALL the confidence
🙃Fancy tech
🙃More followers (wtf)

And while I was toiling away at all those things, guess what I was NOT doing?!

FINDING CLIENTS.

Turn out, clients don’t care which email platform you use, how big your audience is, or whether your logo is pretty.

They hire you because of your SKILL. They pay you because of what you can DELIVER.

It really is that simple.

If you’ve been sitting on the sidelines THINKING about starting a freelance or service-based business but not actually DOING IT, I invite you to ask yourself why.

I might be the only business coach who talks about this… but I’m gonna keep on doing it.

I've had to learn the hard way that what I eat, the quality of my sleep, how intentional my boundaries are, and my emotional health are inextricably linked to my business.

Because I ✨am✨ my business, in a way.

This is why I coach my clients on strategy AND mindset.

I help them with pricing AND boundaries.

Finances AND work/life balance.

You can’t fully address one without the other. It’s that simple.
