Liz here. This may get into the weeds a bit for some of our followers, but for my nonprofit clients and others who work in philanthropy, it is an interesting read.
Many nonprofit organizations were blessed last year with an influx of donor support, from small, large and foundation donors. But was that uptick and capture of new donors representative of a blip in time? How can you capture those new donors or funders? All of Team Roe's nonprofit clients have been prepping for this moment since Q4 of 2020, and right now there is a marketed down shift of funding flowing in. This might be due to several factors (uncertainty about the economy and taxes, increase in "asks" from nonprofit organizations, and shifting funding priorities due to social change).
If you are a current donor to an organization, I would recommend that you continue supporting an organization because they all need our help right now. Last year there were many programs that helped nonprofit organizations (forgiveable PPP loans and local/county assistance), but as we emerge from the pandemic, many organizations that provide community services are seeing an increase in need but not an increase in funding.
If you are an organization, it's time to take a look at your development program to make sure that you are capturing every opportunity to increase your visibility in the community and diversifying your funding streams.
