BCSS to build it’s first two-story building

Jackson, Ga - On Tuesday, February 10, 2026 the Butts County Board of Education unanimously approved a bid of $7,597,522 for the construction of a new central office building. The new facility will combine the current Mulberry Street office and the Earnest Battle location under one roof.

The project will be funded by E-SPLOST (education special purpose local option sales tax) funds. Plans include the demolition of the Rufus Adams Auditorium, with a two-story building to be constructed on the existing foundation.

District leaders state the project is intended to improve the operational and business functions of the school system. Additional details are expected to be shared in Superintendent Brent Lowe’s upcoming “Fireside Chats”.
